Seneca was in serious contention one year though…. was being talked about a lot for it….. and there were Heisman videos made of him, etc.

Then Seneca completely fell apart when he played teams with a pulse. He literally beat 3 P5 teams in his career at Iowa State that ended the season with a winning record 2001-Iowa, 2002-Iowa, Texas Tech. That’s it. Also, Heisman videos don’t exist anymore so of course Brock wouldn’t have one made for him.

I dont blame them but the system as a whole is broken. Where does the slippery slope end, we gonna start hanging it up mid-October now if your team isn't looking very good?
All you need to know about how big of joke these bowl games have become, 2 Ohio State players are opting out. The sport has major issues when players are too scared to play in the freaking Rose Bowl of all games.

3 tOSU players.

The OC is the one calling a draw play on 3rd and 10.

That was a draw? If the play I'm thinking of, simple run, like setting up a field goal attempt, which luckily was made, from 48 yards. Worst play call of the game.

Related, with the Clemson rush and J. Brock's pass catching ability, I would've liked a couple more RB screens.

Not exactly sure.
The jump ball completion between two ISU defenders as their QB was getting pulled down…turning point in the game. Led to the first touchdown and changed the complexion of the game. Ugh.
If you watch that, the guy blocking Enyi grabbed him with a small horse collar when Enyi got around him giving the qb just enough time. If he didn’t then Enyi drops him for a loss. Definite hold that was missed and was a big play.

Mac really put an emphasis on it. Would you rather beat Iowa and not make a bowl or be in contention for the Big 12 title game in the last third of the season?

They were 10 of 19 on 3rd/4th down. We were 6 of 16. Difference in the game is we couldn’t convert on offense and couldn’t get off the field on defense.

Purdy missing Allen for what should have been an early touchdown and missing wide open Noel left at least 4 - maybe 8 - points in the board. So many what-ifs on defensive 3rd downs as well.

Did not like the play calling, but could have beat them tonight with some better execution.

I called the loss right after that play. That kind of play is how you know that the bounces just aren't going to go your way today.

Yeah he got held big-time on that play. I think they missed an obvious holding on that same drive.

If you've seen Tornado's posts, you know the answer to this.

And it's kind of amazing this type of fan still exists.

That said, doing something like beating Iowa would be great but that's also because ISU really isn't great outside of the Big 12.

the talent level, coaching, and facilities at ISU back then were light years behind where they are now.

Seneca had NFL level talent. Would have succeeded more as a receiver IMO, though. Still hard to fault several years as a very well paid clipboard holder. I know I’d take that gig.

I don’t think Brock Purdy will play a down in the NFL or even get elevated out of a practice squad. That doesn’t mean he is or was a bad college QB—his ceiling just is (was) lower than Senecas.
