300 member band sitting just behind you is a little different than claiming one or two guys are clapping on the other sideline. So, No, it is nothing like Scott Frost. That’s some Scott Frost energy there

Call me old school, but I’m of the opinion you focus your attention and energy on the field, not in the stands.
That Is a rule, so you say screw the rules and feel free to use wrong balls and stuff like that? He most likely had the linemen telling him that they couldn’t hear the snap. If they can’t, the. They have to look inside and could miss blitzes and stunts that the D is doing.
No new gig, just going to spend Football Saturdays as a fan with my two little guys at Jack Trice. Will still be doing podcasts and writing here at CF and doing basketball games on ESPN+. Nothing too crazy beyond that! Thanks for the kind words.@brentblum, watched the game on TV, but then caught JW, you and company afterwards. What's your next gig did you announce it, or if you can't say that's fine. Gonna miss you on the radio.

Man, way too kind. It’s just great talking about the Cyclones with people who will listen! I will definitely be more present here on CF next Fall with all the extra free time! Big things still ahead for the program. You are an absolute gem and could/should be on a much larger platform than you currently are. I'm constantly surprised (shouldn't be at this point) with not just how knowledgeable you are with both football and basketball but how eloquently you convey that knowledge during broadcasts and podcasts. Thank you for covering our team the way you do
It is too bad Blum is not in CW's role. Blum is a much better surrogate for Iowa St athletics. You are an absolute gem and could/should be on a much larger platform than you currently are. He didn’t really have any good highlights to be fair.
For an average college QB maybe. That first-half long pass to X was right on target.
All the complaining about Manning likely should include complaints toward Campbell. Campbell ultimately decides the direction of the offense. It's just hard to see the indecision and predictability in the offense, repeatedly.Whos happy about the loss? Not me. But if you think a new OC will change it you are crazy. Campbell has his system and no OC will change it.
CW is doing just fine. Blum and CW work together and will hopefully continue to work together. Symbiosis. It is too bad Blum is not in CW's role. Blum is a much better surrogate for Iowa St athletics.
I think you mean the blatant missed holding of Enyi Uwazurike led to the first touchdown and changed the complexion of the game. The jump ball completion between two ISU defenders as their QB was getting pulled down…turning point in the game. Led to the first touchdown and changed the complexion of the game. Ugh.
Yes, that’s actually exactly what happens. If the crowd is too loud, the referee can warn the crowd, and later penalize them for it.So what are the refs going to do if they can’t hear the snap count? Isn’t that what happens when you play away from home?
Purdy has done more for ISU football than any other player IMO. He also has three plays that I’ve never seen before. A backwards interception in the flat, volleyball set interception, and fumbling on a 4th down in front of the line to gain to recover it behind the line of gain.
When good, he is pretty good. When bad he is horrific.
Crowd can be loud, but you aren’t allowed artificial noise makers (MSU gets their cowbells for some reason). Instruments are artificial noisemakers but are allowed because they aren’t going to throw out the band, but with that rules were put in place. One is you can’t be playing at certain times One of those times is when the team is lined up trying to snap the ball.Yes, that’s actually exactly what happens. If the crowd is too loud, the referee can warn the crowd, and later penalize them for it.
The playoff system will eventually defeat the bowl system. Even though it has long since been proven in the lower divisions, and even longer at the high school level, the only thing that will keep these high achiever's interest peaked is the quest for a title. FCS has a 24 team playoff, but FBS has only 4.I dont blame them but the system as a whole is broken. Where does the slippery slope end, we gonna start hanging it up mid-October now if your team isn't looking very good?
All you need to know about how big of joke these bowl games have become, 2 Ohio State players are opting out. The sport has major issues when players are too scared to play in the freaking Rose Bowl of all games.

If I could wave a wand, Id delete the bowl system, and replace it with a full bracket playoff system as is typical in high school. That allows everyone to play for the right reasons throughout the season. Teams would never be forced to "sell out" for regular season win #6, and guys, by their credo, would not abandon their teams while in the hunt during the playoff.
