What are your thoughts on TJ publicly blaming the players today?

I mean they blew a 15 point lead, and all. But do you think he should have done that?

He didn’t publicly blame the players IMO. He was asked what his rotation would be going forward and indicated those players that show effort and urgency will get the minutes. Not sure how that is any different then what every single coach says.

I get that, but it's quite literally the coach's job to put them in a position to succeed. Do you think that's been done very well on one side of the court?
No, but i guess im arguing that i dont really know what he should be doing. We just don't have it there. Its clear he's trying. Weve been attacking the basket more and Jaz has clearly been told to shoot more but its not working because we're just that bad of a shooting team

EDIT: I had it pointed out to me elsewhere that someone like Gabe or Conditt wouldn't count against us next year because of the covid season. So you don't have to boot them right out, but look to recruit over them
I don't think this is true. I thought the "free-doesn't count against scholly limits" was one season only (this year). Yes, the players get an extra year to compete if desired, but it counts against the scholly limit.

Where did he say that he needs to coach better and put the players in the best position to win? Just saying that would go a long ways.

I didn't see a team that wasn't trying today. I saw a team that didn't believe they could win. ******** about effort and playing hard (when they did exactly that) isn't going to help.

Yeah, I guess I'm saying that it's okay for us randos on a message board to not have the answers. But there was something there earlier in the year with this team that wasn't historically bad on offense IMO. I get that teams have adjusted, but that's when a coaching staff needs to be able to figure that puzzle out. Making the ~10 minute scoring droughts into 5 minute ones would genuinely have been big for this team of late, and I think that's where coaching comes in. It's not like it's a middle school team playing a high school one out there.

You want this to fail and it’s glaringly obvious. I’m disappointed in today and T.J. has room to improve but it is so predictable that you and mynameisasshat show up and question the TJ hire today.
You love twisting the Tre situation and creating drama. If you thought this team was a 20 win team at the beginning of the year then you have a right to be disappointed. Bottom line is that if they can win a couple next week they will be in the tournament still.

You’re completely underestimating how incredibly soft the bubble is this year.
A lot of this. Every year since going to 68 teams the bubble is beyond soft. That's why if these guys can somehow, some way, scrap out even three more wins they probably at least get a play in game at absolute worst. Memphis and Creighton could end up being Q1 wins here, and then we are going to be the most bizarre case out there with that many Q1 wins yet a terrible conference record.

I didn’t hear the postgame? Was he specifically calling out players? And if not, I’m not buying the whole “throwing people under the bus” malarkey. In a way, TJ is right. Still baffled as to why his coaching has gotten so bad though.

He threw the players under the bus on the post game show with Walters and Heft. He was going on about sense of urgency and effort. Said the 2nd half they didn't play with urgency and effort. He's only going to play guys with urgency and effort, we need guys to pick up their urgency and effort because we can't play with just 6 guys.

It was a BS answer, just like his answer about why Enaruna isn't playing in the Stanz article.

The correct answer would have been "In the first half we got out and ran, were able to score before the defense got set. In the second half they adjusted, started over playing our sets but we didn't make the correct adjustments and that's on me as a coach. They guys played hard and it's up to me to get them in the correct position to succeed."

Similar to what Campbell says after football games.

It’s over. No reason to talk about the tournament.

ISU has nobody that can hit a 2 foot basket, let alone any true gunners from deep.

I think perspective is being lost here.

It’s weird that Tre didn’t play a single second in Morgantown, considering he has been a consistent rotation player. It’s weird that Enaruna didn’t play a single second today, for the same reason.

The comments after the game add to it. you just cannot do that to a group that is as fragile as this one is right now. Especially when part of the issue is fatigue, and you’ve run them into the ground

And, there are other players who haven’t been playing with that sense of urgency and desire, and they haven’t seen their minutes drop.

Let’s hope they can figure out how to win some games over the next two weeks, so they at least get something to show for how hard they’ve worked

Go cheer for Iowa then. It's not over until it's over. I hope you are back here if they somehow grab a few wins here and find their way into the field. But if being "right" and basically cheering against your team is what makes you happy, you do you. They are not out of it because they set themselves up that if they can win even 3 more they probably get in still. I don't see it happening, but until that's mathematically not possible, it isn't over. Must suck to be so miserable.

I appreciate your optimism. I am typically a big optimist. Even tonight, while I honestly think the chances of the tourney are LIKELY like 10%...in my idiot brain I'm sitting here looking at other bubble team resumes and they have NOTHING on ours. So I'm sitting here thinking...what if we happen to win at TCU or at KSU and win out at home???

I'm a glutton for punishment I know

How am I oblivious? Go ahead and tell me. I will wait. I said I don't think they will get the wins, but you actually cannot sit here today and say it's over. Nobody can because if they somehow get a little spark and win the remaining three home games I will bet they make it in. Until BracketMatrix tosses us out, I will trust those guys because they are absolute nails when projecting who makes the field.
