A Notre Dame/Big 12 connection?

Add some ACC leftovers and I think we would do 10:00.

And ND is willing to budge to stay independent and make basically P2 money.
ND will play some night games and away games too. You could schedule some UCF and WV home games early, so there would only be just a couple of difficult early kicks for folks. Very manageable in the context.

The current ND schedule only has four home games at the 1:30 slot. Stanford and Clemson are night games.

Also worth noting is I believe I read somewhere that NBC is trying to turn the USA network more into a sports type channel. That would make a cable channel option also.
Well they did put the Tour de France on there this year. It is actually kind of nice to be able to watch USA if you are watching the Tour live or flip over to Peacock if you are watching it later.

I would very much like to separate from the other schools by being on CBS and NBC and their "other" channels. 2 to 3 (or 4?) games on CBS in one day? Sign me up.

It just seems like if you're on ESPN, you're never going to be on network as they're pimping their SEC on ABC and the main ESPN channel. Same with Fox and the B1G.

Except FOX bought the John Tesh theme from NBC.

I can't see NBC taking more than 1 B12 game a week if it happens. Notre Dame isn't budging from their 1:30 kickoffs and I can't imagine the B12 signs up for 10:00 kicks. Now if NBC wants to pay for an exclusive 5:00 kick every week that's an entirely different story.
They could kick off at 2:30. Put a Big 12 game on at 11:00. Or do an 11:00 and 2:30 for Big 12 and Notre Dame can kick at 7:00. Have a pre-game show after the 2:30 game. Could have 2-3 Big 12 games on the weekends where Notre Dame is on the road.

All I can say is that if NBC has a Big 12 game as a lead in to the Notre Dame game, we better hope the Big 12 game ends on time. We know who NBC will prioritize when the games are overlapping. :)

If they put in commercial breaks like they do Notre Dame games, the games will last 4-5 hours. Better have Notre Dame kick off at 6:00.

They have 6:30 kicks frequently when they play USC or Stanford, I assume because it makes travel easier somehow. Looking forward to what happens when USC goes to Rutgers, not sure that game gets a night kick on Big Ten Network.

So if N.D. gets 75 million can the B12 come out with 50 million a team? I'd take that 7 days a week. Regular OTA TV, plus some type of streaming I think that would be better than the way espn has been treating the B12.

It wouldn't be NBC exclusive... It would likely be some kind of split tier 1 or tier 2 rights deal with NBC + Others (Fox?, CBS?, ESPN?, etc.). Net, B12 does not get to $50M per school with NBC only... it will be a combination of deals that get them somewhere in the 50M+ range (I would expect).

Here is what I would love to see...

Big 12 adds 4 pac schools.

B12 adds a "championship weekend" with all of the schools playing each other including a 4 team championship tournament to decide the winner of the conference (each of the 4 division winners). The other 12 teams not competing for the championship play each other (based on standings + considering if they played during the regular season, avoiding rematches if possible). You could add 7 more conf games right there for a TV package and it would be a ton of fun.

They could bid that out in addition to the regular season... could add a few bucks to the pool. if we add the 4 PAC schools we will likely need to get creative to maximize overall revenue per school.

Read this on a ND board:

"NBC can’t even negotiate with the Big 12 for at least another year and a half unless ESPN and FOX gives them permission because of their exclusivity window."

Does anybody know if this is true?

It would be sweet if the Big 12 could sign with NBC, CBS, and Amazon.

Tons of big games on national tv for free, and then anyone with Prime could catch the other games or maybe replays in 4k streaming.
