Not exactly sure.
1 & 2 I really don't see happening..

3 could happen.

4 is likely.

ISU going to need a few big plays to force them to come from behind.

I can already see myself throwing remote thru my TV when the TE sneaks out a drag for 35 yards on 3 & 12.
I don't think we need to win the turnover battle, just not having more. We could probably survive with a -1 situation. If we can get a punter who can just 35+ on his punts. Have him hang it up there and have no return it would be huge. Then have a returner just fair catch their punts and we will be in good enough shape with that part then. We have screwed up too much the last several years, force them to respect our deep ball and have a semblance of a rushing attack and we will be in good shape.

IMO our special teams need to shine in this game. I hope we can have kick offs through the back of the end zone. also need long punts with plenty of hang time. will need our kicker to be able to make 3 pts from beyond the 40 consistently. Iowa's defense is going to pin their ears back and come after our QB and RB to control our offense. reading their forums, they feel confident that their defense can keep our offense under 10 pts.

If Dekkers is any threat as a runner it's not likely our D will pin their ears back and come after him hard. If pressures and/or sacks happen they happen, but against mobile/fast QBs Phil coaches our DL to play contain and not overpursue resulting in wide open running lanes. We definitely blitz more than we used to, but we still don't do it a whole lot compared to most other Ds.

If any of you subscribe to 247, PLEASE go over to the board and see what's happening there. Osen did a podcast with Eickholt on the matchup and obviously was extremely biased and the first few comments were critical on that. Now Eickholt is in the comments legitimately arguing with posters like he's a fan. Lol

Dekkers will only run when he needs to. He's very comfortable in sitting in the pocket, making the read, and letting her rip. But he's incredibly athletic so if he needs to escape and make a play he's certainly capable.

The more I hear people think we will win, the more I'm convinced we won't. This game defies expectations every year

I expect Iowa's defense to be stifling and ISU's defense to do well except for a play or two that makes the difference.

It doesn't take a super human effort to beat Iowa, but you have to be succinct.

Are we really going to have to watch this game at 3:00 on the ******* big ten network? Aside from the network being trash, it's disheartening we can't pull at least a FS1 for this one at that time slot.
Texas Tech hosts #25 Houston in an old rivalry matchup in that slot.

Yeah but I was saying more like what's the point of 3:00 to be on the lowest possible network tier. I understand its "Iowa only", but I'd rather have a crap kick time on a better network than let everyone drink all day and have time to get in our own heads for a BTN kick.

Can we really not outduel a duke northwestern at noon or an espn 2 look at 11:00?

I mean we certainly can considering we've been on College Gameday the last 2 times we've played this game.. So I think it has more to do with just the draw we got this year than us not being able to out-duel someone.

Fair enough. I just don't like it, and I'm probably looking for reasons to spiral as we get closer. This Iowa offense is trash, BTN is trash, etc.

What's wrong with watching a game on the BTN? Much better than having to pay extra for it on ESPN + or something. I've never had any complaints with the BTN coverage. It is on par with the rest of the networks.

Except when you aren't in B10 territory. Guess I'll be headed to a bar.

You haven't met our coach. Sat a Heisman runner-up in favor of Kyle McCann. Sat Stanzi in favor of Christensen. Sat Beathard in favor of Rudock. Not saying Padilla is lights out or even all that much better, but KF has frequently whiffed badly on assessing the talent in our QB room.
The thing is, you can't argue with 10-3. You have the defense, the special teams, few penalties and few turnovers. 4 outa 5 ain't bad!

This is an item of high interest to me. Dekkers has some size, and can run. Will CMC break out some LanRam type QB runs? Will that kind of wrinkle make a difference?

He didn't run at all against SEMO, and Purdy was coached against running so he wouldn't get hurt. So IDK what to think. Stay tuned I suppose.
