Good programs that start 3-0 tend to be ranked. We’re a good program.

We should at least be getting votes.

It doesn’t matter right now, don’t worry about it.

As I said, we don’t have any good wins, and honestly have been pretty sloppy in all 3 games.

I’m thrilled with our start, and our potential is off the charts IMO, but I’m not sure we’ve looked like a top 25 team yet. Beat Baylor this week…. and that’s a different story.

Had we started the season ranked, we’d obviously still be ranked. That’s why right now it’s pretty meaningless. It will all work itself out by the end of year. Just keep improving.

2 road victories against OK teams. everyone else played no one

check your bias. kansas playing great
Not saying we should be ranked at this point, but saying KU has the best resume' in all CFB is a joke. The 3 teams they have played have a combined 3 wins. None of them are considered great, beyond maybe an early belief that Houston was good, but they seem to have some major issues.

KU is playing good, yes, but they have not played anyone of note that really shows much like a lot of teams. And saying that they have a better resume' than anyone else is laughable.

KU has beaten WV and Houston in their houses. I hate KU as much as anyone, but you have to give them some props for beating both of those teams…. they are both better than Iowa.

Rankings are just chatter starters and I'd say they mean something maybe by mid-October.

ISU is that much closer to another 7ish win season which is fun.

Anything else will take care of itself.

I actually appreciate KU's coach after the clown shows they've had there.

Seems like a real no nonsense type and doesn't seem to he forcing some new 'era' at KU.

Are you telling me the Les Miles hire was a bad choice?

This is just plain silly reasoning. Every team showed the world the previous year what they could do, and at the start of the year everyone is trying to guesstimate what they carried over.

That’s the whole point. There is just more to build on as the season progresses.

Also, it’s all just for entertainment’s sake at this point anyway, so I see no reason to chafe about it.
We underachieved last year
We graduated the most successful class in ISU history
I'm OK with people taking a wait-and-see attitude toward us. We'll get a target on us soon enough. I think Big XII teams know where we are on their schedules. I agree with Sage Rosenfels' comment yesterday: ISU has more talent and especially more depth this year than last year. They just have to prove they can actually do it. I think this team has a resilience that many previous teams lacked.

I dislike Texas as much as anyone. But to me they should be ranked higher than Baylor. Same record, but a loss to Alabama was more impressive
There has to be a level of recent historical performance built into it. Texas has done nothing where Baylor has done much more with less. I can’t stand that every year (except this year) Texas was preseason ranked despite going 5-7 the previous year.

With a playoff system in place..........the ranking system should just go away.

It is nothing more than a tool to make sure a certain few always make it outside of a complete collapse. Alabama never has to earn their way. Clemson........Ohio State. They are in from day 1, and as long as they don't lose more then 1.......it's guaranteed.

Will there be times they do slip up..........sure. But it sure as heck beats having to EARN every year it like the rest of the college world.

Bingo! It only shows how messed up the college system is that rankings actually mean anything at all.

Meh, WVU def has a better Offense but not a better defense, and really not even close to Iowas defense.

Houston, I dont know they seem kinda disfunctiontional, their only win was to UTSA who people were giving a lot of credit to but got destroyed by Texas and who's only win is against Army who's also only has 1 win against Villanova.

They probably have as good or better resume' than ISU, but again no one they have played has even won more than 1 game. Houston is 1-2, WVU is 1-2, and doesn't look great.

Tenn Tech < SEMO
WVU ~ Iowa (Iowa's Defense and the rivalry gives it a bump)
Houston > Ohio (But Houston looks like a mess)

But saying they have a better resume' than anyone else in the top 25, as was originally stated, nah not even close.

I don't think at this point we should be ranked. But I also dont think KU should be either.

Quite frankly there are a lot of teams that just don't have a lot of quality games to know really how good or not they are.

Love how TAMU loses to App State at home, then looks underwhelming (again at home) against Miami but wins due to some Iowa State like STs play by Miami, and is ranked 20th. We shouldn't be ranked but TAMU sure as hell shouldn't be ranked.

The SEC bias in the rankings is beyond ******* insane.

One could argue pretty much anyone in the top 25 does.

I am not saying they aren't knocking on the door, just like we probably are too.
But in reality their wins and opponents are not that impressive when you look at it. Neither are ours.

Yet.

Look at who they beat, none have a winning record. All are 1-2, and all of those 1 wins came against 1 win or winless teams as well. At this point that just does not say much.

Our wins, SEMO is 2-1. Semo beat a team that beat Northwestern, and their only loss is to us. Iowa, looks bad but is 2-1, only loss being to us. Ohio lost by basically the same score as us to #14 Penn St, A game in which we played our 3rd string for over a 3rd of the game.

But still I don't think we deserve to be ranked either. I think both us and KU could deserve some votes but we are still mostly unknown.

The reason most of the teams that are in the top 25 are their is because they were projected to be there and have not done anything to drop them out. The reason some have broke in is because they have beaten those that were projected. At this point that is all it is. Neither us nor KU have beaten anyone, at this point and their has not been enough of those above us to fall.

I mean, to be fair, Michigan has not done **** to be ranked, and look at them sitting there at #4. Until the meat of the season starts none of this means a lot.

It has been for years, you can thank ESPN for that.
