Hunter Dekkers just retweeted this, FWIW

Corner seats are cheaper seats than sideline seats. The band is not likely going to move since a permanent location was built for them. I have not noticed much difference, and I also have little problem with the audio from the speakers, and I also believe that there actually now is MORE student seats available than there used to be.

Not exactly sure.
A few, yes. We have a group of 4. We moved into SEZ when they increased the ticket price thinking that would help our chances. We also increased our donation level above the minimum that year so we could help ensure getting seats. We stayed in that donation level hoping this year we could move a few rows back/higher up. No such luck. We’re taking about trying it again one more year and then deciding if we stay at that donor level for the parking or go to the minimum $750 level.
We dropped a ticket last year since we had 2 at ISU. We donated one level above our required since I dropped the ticket. Needed to add one so I was going to go back to the required level but figured I better stay higher to increase our chances. Ended up over a section in the area that we donate so I think I'm kinda stuck at that level now. Will have a daughter graduate and if she wants to slide in with us I will have one year where i will be unsure what to do since our youngest would be a senior in HS that year. Probably the cheapest just to buy the cheap seats and have her blend into the student section with friends for a year.

The best decision they could have made (and it would have affected me most likely) would have been to flip the students to the south from the north and push them one section further south. This would have given the better donor level seats to be sold and just inverted the seats of most people. The ones displaced from the southern most section could have had the price lock for the better seats for 3 years like they did. This would have placed the students behind the opponent section for the most part and still had them in solid positon. It would have been a win for the AD and only a slight hit for the student section.

This would have solved most of the on field rush, the students would be on the opposite of the opposing teams locker room and if they would place security on the south end of the opposing sidelines, it would have funnelled them away from them for a bit longer also.

Yeah that was my point, hire one of these long time touring bands crew to setup a system in the North endzone, move the band to the field below the students.
That ain't happening.

1. They recently built a specific area for the band in front of the Jacobson building, replacing the use of temporary risers in that area.
2. CMC and/or AD has made explicit attempts over the past several seasons to drastically limit the number of field-level personnel allowed on the sidelines during gameday. They're not going to suddenly reverse course by allowing 400+ band members & staff to be positioned there.

The regular crowd needs to do more and play along with the band chants. Home games in Jack Trice only happen 7 times a year at home. Get loud and play along get off yo butts.

The poor band is all alone now with no one to play with.

And how much is the conference really paying us to move the student sections? If it's not hundreds of thousands it's not worth it. Get better security if you think it's that big of a deal.
Paying us to move the student section? Where did you get that idea? The conference mandates safety for visiting teams and all game participants. It is up to the schools to make that happen. I suppose ISU could put up a 12' chainlink fence on the top of the wall to keep people off the field, but instead they decided to move the most likely field rushers away from the route from the visiting bench to the visiting locker room. It was an ISU plan and decision not a conference one.

Tech got a small fine this time. Their next one will be larger and the one after that larger still. At some point they too will have to adjust what they are doing.

Thankfully gone are the days when the band would get moved around depending on how many tickets the AD thought it could sell.

When OU comes they should put the band on the hill right along that wall by that thin section that is the visiting team fans and have them directly face that section and repeatedly blast them with the ISU fight song.

In accordance with the Big 12 Conference Principles and Standards of Sportsmanship, the Conference has issued a public reprimand and $50,000 fine of Texas Tech University for the field storming incident that occurred at the conclusion of Saturday’s overtime victory against Texas.

“We have a duty to provide a safe game environment,” said Big 12 Conference Commissioner Brett Yormark. “The Texas Tech Department of Athletics has a written event management policy that, while well thought out, was unsuccessful in ensuring the safety and security of all visiting team student-athletes, officials, coaches and staff. There is zero tolerance for any act that compromises the safety of game participants, and it is of utmost importance that home game management provide adequate security measures for our student-athletes, coaches, game officials and spectators.”

TCU's turn to be $50,000 lighter.

Gave up my seat to my kid tonight and took in the game from the NW hillside, on the opposite end of the stadium from the student section. I thought the students, and the stadium in general, were plenty loud. I think the first three games were a combination of pretty boring games (SEMO, Ohio) and a Baylor game where we never got it going to where the crowd could get into it.

My $0.02.

When I first started, the band was actually seated in the bleachers in the opposite endzone. Being that far removed from the student section was terrible, and things improved tremendously when we moved to the current location. I can't believe the administration decided to separate the band from the student section again. (RIP VEISHEA)

Worst move ever for football atmosphere, separating the band and the students. JFC, we're an engineering school, other options should have been explored.

Havve they done this before or is this part of these new crowd control measures? Seems a little like overkill for this particular game but maybe they heard some chatter about kids rushing the field.

We must be happy enough to be back in the win column that we can set aside arguing about this for a week. I haven't seen a complaint about the student section or its location in the stadium all day.

The whole atmosphere yesterday was pretty blah so I'd guess that also gives the student section a pass this week
