all I will say is try being a player at Mich state this year, Auburn or really any SEC School, Michigan up until last year wanted to let go of Harbaugh. and issues with players.
I am sure there are some bitter wisconsin fans right now. I know tons of Husker fans the past ten years that have said things in the heat of the moment about players.
heck, I know some iowa fans that were hoping for petras to get taken out with that targeting call last night. Iowa fans have been booing their offense off the field this season......so point is, this is something that is a few people and with social media its more visible now a days. it only gets worse at "better jobs" too along with the coach getting fired much, much faster. So we can talk about some ISU fans being bad eggs, but try going 7-5 at Wisconsin and see how nice everyone is.

I sometimes wonder if this NIL stuff is going to escalate some of this also. Lets say someone like Petras from Iowa was a 5 star out of High school. he gets his tuition paid for and is getting 100k to go to Iowa per year. Some people are going to say he is fair game

man, this still stings this morning, especially considering we have Texas and OU next.

I love CMC, and I know he knows we are close. a couple plays and we are undefeated. But the offense has to change.

Pull up his quote after the Ragin Cajuns kicked our ass is 2020... "well when you're Iowa State ...."
Yeah, did he say that? That wasn't too cool either. Not the image you want or are trying to project.

But I guess we forgot about that one. Well all but you, no offense intended, at all btw.

Not exactly sure.
Matt painted with to broad of a brush. Most felt for the kid that I know. I was hoping he made his first kick last night for him and not the team. He needed to build back confidence. Miss his first and he could have been a head case.

We need to be able to score 20 points a game, period. Not in OT, just in the game. That won’t win all the games but with our D, we will win more than we lose. We need TDs.

This thread needs shut down, total non-issue as far as I'm concerned. You guys finally got something that's not coach-speak from him that you've been clamoring for years and now everyone is upset.

Let's revisit preseason expectations, pretty much everybody on here thought 6-6 or 7-5, now we are right on track for that and its a nuclear meltdown mode.

I'm not going to pretend like there aren't offensive issues but we didn't have trouble scoring or moving the ball on Iowa or Baylor and Iowa's defense is better than anything in the Big 12. We should have putup 21-27 range on them if not for all the dumb mistakes.

I thought last night we were actually moving the ball well against a good defense but they kept stalling out once they got close to the red zone.

If you guys think our offense sucks so bad or Manning is the worst Division 1 coordinator go watch Iowa and Brian Ferentz, their offense is on a completely different level of ineptitude .

I don't disagree with anything you said but just being 100% honest - right now - I feel like losing Heacock would be a bigger play to the program.

If I was a big time college with a defense that was crap, say - IDK - Oklahoma - I'd open the pocket book and a blank check and ask how much do you want Jon.
That's what I'm really worried about. Heacock might be the best defensive mind in college football right now. Just have to keep him.

Or became fans during the Campbell era and have no clue at what used to be the norms at ISU (3-9 seasons and multiple blowout losses in a season).

That was a dig at Matt more than saying anything factual about ISU fans.

Two odd comments from Matt about ISU fans.

We have now lost to two of the easier possible wins on the schedule, we aren’t on track.

I am not clamoring for heads, we have issues that need to be addressed and they just seem to fester right now.

For the first time his back is against the wall. It’s concerning to say the least that he immediately goes to work burning up the good will of an excessively patient fan base.

I take it as a behind-the-curtain Oz style quote that, to him (and presumably his staff) it’s more about proving somebody - ANYBODY - wrong, than doing what you have to do to win football games. And that’s NOT what big money athletics is about. It’s clear to me that the man coaches more on vendetta than strategy.

This quote pisses me off more than any of the dickless, unacceptable ********* playcalling we’ve seen mid-game.
I'm the opposite. I wouldn't have been as offended as some fans here, by what he said about the kicker, fans. He was upset, made a comment, probably now realizes it was a mistake, no big deal. we can get past that easily, I would think.

I'm a little more upset with the level of offensive play recently, and the apparent lack of coaching, diversity, and preparedness, which is now showing a pattern. Couple this with the cryptic silence in terms of taking any responsibility for it (other than maybe quick statement about blaming himself). Not good enough at this point.

I wish he would be more open. That's what bothers me. The fact that he isn't shows a fair amount of stubbornness.
Edit: spelling

I’m not going to look to much into the quote. I am sure many of our fans were disappointed in the field goal attempts at KU. But a lot more of us will still support him and the team.

Just hope they can figure out the running game. Brock isn’t getting it done. It’s disappointing because all summer we expected a deep running back room.

As a manager of a business, when something doesn’t work do you drill that person in public, a manager does not. This is what is happening.

I'm not going to tell others how they should interpret Campbell's statement. In my mind, its understood he's talking about members of Iowa State's fanbase not the fanbase as a whole.
Agree

My perspective. Matt Campbell is arguably our best coach ever. He has the right values for a D1 head coach. He cares deeply about his kids. He gets very defensive when he perceives that individual players are being “attacked.” I did not see anybody attacking the kid, just pointing out the fact that in a 3 point loss he missed 3 very makable field goals. Give the kid a lot of credit - he stepped up big time this week. I think that says a lot about the kids character. I read nothing more into Campbells comment other than he does not like criticism of individual players. Maybe an overreaction to some extent / but mostly a good trait. He backs his players, and I suspect they greatly appreciate that. None of us know what gets said in practice.

Instead of lumping "everyone" just quote people. It's not hard to do.

I agree with you that it’s understood he’s talking to a segment of the fanbase. I also think it’s something he shouldn’t have even said to begin with. Nothing good comes from quotes like that, regardless of how right he is and how unhinged some of our fans are.

Who cares about Iowa?

ISU's offense is horrible and it's losing them games. Part of those win predictions likely meant getting 2/3 from KSU, KU and BU. There's maybe two more wins on the schedule but even that will require them to play really well.

Getting to start two drives at midfield in the last few minutes was a chance to at least get to field goal range and the inability to even push for a first down was incredible.

Since when is K-State on of the easier wins every year? You know as well as I do ever year it comes down to a few plays here and there to win the game.

Some of you also need to admit that Kansas is good this year. They aren't the best team in the Big 12 but they are a bowl team. So we lost to a bowl team on the road, get over it.
