Anybody in the program will tell you CMC is very integral in the Offense and Manning plays the exact schemes that he wants. That's why it hasn't changed or evolved in years.

Now, CMC needs to be here for the long-term, but HE has to evolve offensively or just changing the guy wearing the coordinator headset isn't going to matter.
Not to compare the two too much, but Nick Saban faced the same issues at Michigan State, LSU and Alabama. He finally gave in and hired some guys with sophisticated passing minds including Lane Kiffin, who took it to a new level. Now, he has regressed again with Bill O'Brien, who I think is a good coach, but not dynamic like Kiffin was.

Point is that Nick was willing to move from being a ball control coach with Mark Ingram at RB and a Manager QB like McElroy (which was his style for the first 3/4 of his career) to recruting guys like Tua and Young with multiple great WRs (instead of just one - Julio Jones in the early days), and he became even more dynamic.

Campbell simply needs to be willing to adapt (some) and change and let go of some of his control offensively, as it is not 1992 anymore. Love Campbell, but he needs to adapt to become the best version of himself. Go get a hot shot Offensive Coaordinator and play that portal a bit. He can get new guys and still have them fit in his culture.

Isn’t CMC also heavily involved in special teams? I know we have a ST consultant or whatever, but isnt CMC the one calling the shots here?

Seems like the only unit that isn’t piss poor is the one he keeps away from.

I’m not sure if three extra weeks with Manning will really help much. It might be more beneficial for the offense to take some time off, then come back in the spring with a new OC.
Those extra practices really translated to success for Paul Rhoads didn't they? His best team finished 7-6 without the extra bowl practices from Chizik's last disaster of a season.

He won’t be if ISU’s football fortunes keep plummeting. Read into that what you will
As I kind of said earlier. Seems a lot of ISU fans would rather pay to get drunk in a bar than go to a game. So, personally, I think this is still a solid move. Stands will be empty, but CYTown will be standing room only. Imagine what the 3rd quarter will look like when there is a sports bar in the parking lot you can go to.

A McDermott-style hiring away of Campbell would be fine and dandy. We know what we get with Campbell: character and poor attention to details, and worst of all stubbornness to change. I’d be more excited for just about anybody to coach this team, than to watch Campbell’s school girl excitement after we get another defensive stop, followed by unmitigated ineptitude on offense with no hope of success.

In style, this feels like the beginning of Prohm’s ending. A man that can’t manage a staff/roster. The transfers and recruiting misses have already started
Glad you got it all figured out.

I don't want to hear what you have to say either. Ha

Dude we are in Iowa. We aren’t going to get 4 and 5 star recruits. It sucks. Come to terms with our ceiling. Life is much easier this way.
Really! We can't get good recruits because we are in Iowa? That other college in Iowa seems to do much better in recruiting than us. This is just another excuse for why we don't win. Come to terms with our ceiling? This is a perfect example of accepting mediocrity!

BS, lots of football fans like to drink, but to suggest that ISU fans are not attending the games is wrong. Coming off a disappointing season last year, and sitting at 4-6 this year, the stands have been I would guess 90% or above full for every game. According to this info. ISU is averaging 58,525 a game, down 3.5% from last year, and we are still 4th in conference in attendance.

What most of us are tired of is the same old boring offense, and losing games that like yesterday when making a play or two was the difference in the game.

XHutch lost us the game he had an ‘end of game’ drop. Noel lost this one. So that is 2 losses that should be wins. Of course the FG miss early was another mind ****. Never seen a team so cursed. Other teams DO NOT make these mistakes. I can’t explain it. It’s incomprehensible.
My son lives in Savannah and, naturally, is a huge Georgia fan. And a college fb fan fantic in general (wish he had other interests, frankly).

In order to make our texts/phone calls back/forth more interesting, I watch Georgia a lot, and 'make him' watch Iowa State when he can.
You would not enjoy the comments he makes about ISU's/Campbell's coaching, considering he has no particular bias in this regard otherwise. And yes, (more than us, likely) he understands the metric of 5-star vs. 2-3 star talent, yada-yada.
But he does not seem to find our losses "incomprehensible" by any stretch.
