Solid effort on the road, if we can win 3 to 4 games on the road in the conference and win all the games at home we will be fine.

I find it unbelievable that we only 2-9 on three pointers, 7 of 12 from the line, while OSU was 9-21 and 16 of 28 and we only lost by two, on the road.

Defense travels, I was surprised what Grill did not play much the second half, but overall, ISU is fine, 5-2 after 7 games, with losses at KU and OSU, I will take that every season.

Lots of halves where opponent crashes glass on them and they commit 3 fouls? Doubtful.

Again, again, I said again, I know ISU fouls a lot. Our fouls were real. OK st fouled a ton more than they got called for and were not the aggressive team on offense at all which generally helps a team get calls, it seemed to somehow hurt ISU in first half that we had aggressive offense. Rare thing.
Our fouls were real and a ton of actual fouls on ISU were not called. Gabe and Holmes commit a foul on almost every trap by the book. And they combined to get called for 3 fouls. I’m just saying if you don’t think our guards get away with a metric **** ton of fouling, then I don’t think you’re being honest.

Realistically I think the number of fans that really are balanced on this is pretty tiny. I think most fall into one of two camps:

- fans like me that hate the thought of a team not being in full control of the outcome, so we rationalize bad calls and discrepancies, and it has to be outrageously horrible to accept the officiating changed the outcome of a game

- fans like most that notice almost every missed calls against ISU and don’t notice nearly as many close or even bad calls that go our way.

I think ISU was on the short end of calls that was very typical in a non Phog road game. Home and road is a huge factor. I thought it was a factor at Hilton vs Texas. ISU was more aggressive, physical and handsy. Yet UT had 28 fouls to our 21.

Hey, be happy with that 7 seed if you want. I actually have tickets to Des Moines this year so thought it would be cool to see my favorite team play there. That's not happening with losses like this.

Would you have been happy with a 7 seed even a month ago?

Nope, I've seen it over and over and over again. We have a team that can beat anybody at home but turns around 3 days later and cant beat a team with the 161st ranked offense in front of about 2,000 fans. It's been the exact same story for 40 years with the exception of the Eustachy teams.

It's why when we think we might actually contend some years we still end up finishing 2 or 3 games behind the conference champion.
You don't think maybe you're being juuuuuust a bit over-dramatic here?

Kansas, Kansas St, and Texas will all win down there and that's why we'll finish behind all of them in the standings.

It's the Hoiberg special, win a huge game in Ames then turn around 3 days later and lose to a bad team in front of a half full arena. It's why Kansas always wins the league and we finish 11-7 or 12-6 in our good years.
Gallagher Iba is one of the hardest places to win in this conference. My guess is they'll clip at least one of those other top dogs at their place. I was actually impressed by their turn out today for attendance. Better than I remember it being during the Travis Ford years

I very much knew it would happen. Felt like we over extended a bit on pressure trying to force things and gave up some extra open looks. May be lack of Grill as well

A couple of their shots came after the ball practically rolled to the open guy after a scramble.

That's when it's not your day.

We’re 2-2 on the road with the other loss being at phog Allen by two points. But sure…

Yeah, probably, just tired of getting my hopes up then losing to team with no fan support in an empty arena after we had a huge win the game before.
That was actually more full than I've seen GIA in a while. OSU adjusted their defense at the half, and we lost Grill to his back issues. My guess is it won't be our last loss this season, but I still think this team will come out at or near the top of the conference.

I only listened to the game on radio. I know there have been the usual detractors that have said we choked (though I haven't read any of the thread yet). But we are in great shape.

We knew the Big 12 race and "all" the games were gonna be a dogfight. I'm proud of this team. They will be fine. Long way to go.

Time to get healthy.
