I feel like Casey will move up at some point, but Johnson makes that difficult because of his skill (good thing). They each have a redshirt which really helps this situation. I actually have wondered if Casey could be a 157 2 or three years down the road? He looks to have the frame to put on size.

I wouldn't sleep on Cam Robinson when considering the future of 157. It's great to have depth and options. Paniro has been an amazing surprise this year as he has put the wrestling world on notice that he's a top contender.

Possible future 141/149/157 guys - Redding, Swiderski, Frost, Paniro, Robinson, Kraisser, Euton among other guys already in the room. This doesn't even consider future recruits/transfers.

Guessing our 141 this year will be a pretty good option as a redshirt sophomore at 157 after Kraisser graduates
I don't understand why people keep saying Swiderski needs to go up, especially to 157. I don't consider him that big for 41 nor does he seem to currently have the frame to go much higher than 49. Granted I'm not in know, but I find it bizarre that this keeps coming up.

I find the talk about Bastida as a HW puzzling in the same way. Yonger does not tower over other 197 pounders. In fact its often the other way around. Casey is a little hurt, but he should be at 141 next year. He's not going all the way to 157, and Paniro is likely going to hold down 149 another season.

I don't see paniro ever going up to 157 just because of how short he is, but then again Chase Pami and Joe Johnson disagree. There was buzz this off season that Yonger was up to 240 and would be going hwt next year. I've been told 235 by a reliable source, so maybe. It's worked for a couple guys - Lucas Davison and Tyrell Gordon

Bastida at HWT I can kind of see because he is as strong as ox and he would have an even greater quickness advantage than he has now at 97.

Unless PJ grows another couple inches, he is the perfect speed, strength and build for 49 right now.

I didn't realize Swiderski won his 4th h.s. title last year at 152. Nonetheless, this is what I think a NC at 57 looks like and Swiderski would have a LONG ways to grow to get there.

I think most have Casey redshirting in the scenario that has him at 157.

I just know when you are a young true freshman and the cut is extremely hard it is unlikely to decide to make a career of that weight class. I'm guessing Casey walks around at about 155-160 in the off season. He could very easily pack on 10 12 lbs. of muscle over the next 2 ywars and be a 157. It is not uncommon for people to fill out between the ages of 18 and 22 quite a bit. If he redshirts next year he will come back unable to even consider 141 the following year ismy guess.

In all fairness @ST8TAILG8R, St. John won 157 and he had the same build as Wheres Waldo lol
DSJ is exactly who I thought of when the pic of Paulson was posted. There have been a lot of other tall and lanky champs at various weights. Just ask Mike Van Arsdale.
It's not easy for everyone to pack on 10-12 lbs of muscle especially when your working hard at wrestling. IF Casey would try this then then I'd think he'd benefit even more from a redshirt year to focus on weight gain.

The road block with Casey going up is PJ at 49. I could easily see Casey go up to 49 but PJ’s body is the perfect fit there right now. 57 is too much of a jump but if he wants a RS to heal and grow then do what’s best for Casey. I would prefer that over seeing Casey transfer, obviously. His best days as a wrestler are certainly ahead of him.

Stewart Carter wrestled at 134 when first at ISU. He won a National title as a senior at 158. Joe Gibbons wrestled at 126 as a true freshman and won a National title at 142 a couple years later.

Iirc Barry Weldon was a 58 pounder as a freshman and won his natty at 77. It might not be the norm but it definitely happens. Cael makes his living with guys focusing on getting better instead of cutting weight.

Exactly. I forgot about Barry. We had a couple of 190's move up and do well also. J. Horopolis, spelling is wrong, did well.

I never thought Gomez was going to do much anything at 149 but was wrong on that.

If Casey is still growing, he can be good at 57 if his mat wrestling improves. I think he was just outright bullying the HS kids when was up at 152 which isn't going to happen at this level.

Casey is still growing, he is not a life 141, where as Paniro is probably a lifer at 49, Casey can put on the weight to be a solid 157 pounder next season
Will make the off season competition harder as he grows through weight classes but he can do it, if not he can redshirt next season but I for one see him being a solid 157 next year.
Has he or coaches told you he is still growing? Was a 138/145 pounder his last 2 years of HS. Doesn’t sound like a growing kid. Not saying he won’t be a 149/157 pounder but nothing points towards it.
