Better fit for an NAIA school
Agree. I also think there are fewer diamond in the rough type recruits, due to all the national events and big clubs these days.

Agreed. Coaches can scout nearly every kid with ease now. I’ve heard stories about guys just showing up at the Iowa room who ended up being All-Americans and National Champs. That doesn’t happen nowAgree. I also think there are fewer diamond in the rough type recruits, due to all the national events and big clubs these days.
Juco is not what it used to be, no doubt. But that doesn’t mean there is no talent there with D1 potential.
You’re probably right that the one-off would be a foreigner without much folkstyle experience or relatively unknown. Kid blowing through the 125 bracket ISU recruited and he went to Oklahoma state insteadJuco is not what it used to be, no doubt. But that doesn’t mean there is no talent there with D1 potential.
Maybe not since Downey? Joe Colon also a very high level JUCO kid.High D1 potential, though? Hasn’t been much out there in recent years.
Burks was close to coming to ISU and went to okie state. Jack gaukel is also at iowa western now. They also have Blake Thomsen. Some decent Iowa kids.Maybe not since Downey? Joe Colon also a very high level JUCO kid.
Jakason Burks was a very highly rated recruit that is currently JUCO at 125.

I agree with. I’m saying there is still some out there, even though there may not have been recently. Doesn’t mean we can just blanket write it off.Downey was 8 years ago. Colon was 11. That’s making the point.

Tanner Harvey for OSU is currently ranked 17th and was a JUCO champ. Jason Shawnee is ranked 19th for OSU. Got from Minnesota is ranked 23rd and a JUCO guy. Just beat Warner.
Todd Small was a pretty good wrestler for ISU.
I honestly haven’t followed super close, but there is still decent talent coming out of there. Although not NCAA champ material.
We’re going to have 4 weights not qualify for NCAAs. Could use a few more Todd smalls in the room.Todd Small? I think we have vastly different definitions of “high D1” or “pretty good” wrestlers.
Which 4?We’re going to have 4 weights not qualify for NCAAs. Could use a few more Todd smalls in the room.
No clue where you disappeared to for so long but go back please.Todd Small? I think we have vastly different definitions of “high D1” or “pretty good” wrestlers.

I think we have that at 125 through 165. Quite a bit of depth there for next year. We’re going to have 4 weights not qualify for NCAAs. Could use a few more Todd smalls in the room.
I'm pretty confident in MJ Gaitan at 174 next season, 184 will likely be Julien Broderson (Tate Naak will wrestle his 5 free events, but I'd like to see him redshirt), then Yonger at 197 (Hagerty as a backup) and Schon at Hwt. I would agree that it would be nice to have some more depth at those weights with how we got hit with the injury bug this year.I think we have that at 125 through 165. Quite a bit of depth there for next year.
174 through heavy is what I am concerned about as far as depth goes.
