Really tough way to go out.

Props to the players to keep at it for the season and the guys who came in and had the experience.

On to football hype about the WR and Oline and then the fall for folks to wonder why ISU doesn't just run the same plays as well as tOSU. Can't wait, haha.

41 points, as I said in the game thread. If we had an even average scoring team, this game is a gimme. I loved the way this team played D, but damn, 41 points in 40 minutes of basketball? Did Manning leave football and become our offensive coach in BBAll? Holy **** what an offensive nightmare.

I get this hindsight analysis, and you're absolutely correct, but there needs to be equal acknowledgement of Iowa St's ability to play defense and run their offense enough to beat Texas, Baylor, Kansas, etc.

Honestly, there's only so many adjustments you can make, especially with a team that lacks as much talent as iowa st does.
my boss always gives me a pass on the things i do wrong in lieu of the things i do right. as long as it is a net positive, then even analyzing the bad is pointless. thats the way the world works for everyone else too i assume

Fair enough.

But you can't just point at that. He only got one shot to set the culture, and he's shown enough over two seasons to say he got that mostly right.
Understood and agree. I think he’s been a master motivator (to your culture point) and excellent recruiter. I do worry long term about in-game coaching and roster construction

Eh? Cmon let’s be serious here. Take a poll two years ago and most fans would never believe we’d have made it to back to back tournaments with one Sweet 16 already.
its today. not 2 years ago. ive had 2 years of watching him underperform frequently. he has exceeded expectations but still left me wanting him to be better in some situations. mostly between the time the first half starts and the 2nd half ends.

I would say making the NCAA tournament, with this roster, is a net positive.

I am pleased with how the season went.
I am pleased with how the future of this program looks.

Yes, focus on the very incredibly small picture while you are building the foundation of the program. Brilliant.

True. And he did the right thing.

But hopefully he’s learned how to stop the problems before they develop.

I looked at the box score. Objectively - the best offensive game was Hassan Ward. He took zero shots in 13 minutes and only had one turnover
Lipsey was 1 for 2 from 3. I hope he figures something out next year, because having a point guard that is no threat to shoot a 3 is not a good thing at all.

A real offensive clunker is always lurking with this team. But the shooting percentages today were historically bad, seemingly statistically impossible. Would be interesting to see how far from the mean this was.
Pitt had more size than most opponents we played this year in the post. They decided to clog the interior and made it real tough to score inside. And the Cyclones never found the range from outside in one of the worst shooting performances in school history from behind the arc.

It was a perfect storm of suck.

The kid made half the team's threes in the tournament this year. Definitely a place to start.:chris:

That will likely never be a consistently reliable part of his game. What we need more than Lipsey being able to shoot threes is someone else on the roster as a ball handler. Hopefully that can be Jeremiah Williams or someone from the portal.
