I just thought of this: For "some" who might be tailgating, could it be helpful to check in to the Jack quite early (when do gates open?), and then leave to return to your tailgate? And if so, would the "reentry" be smoother/quicker, closer to gametime?

With lots not opening until 8:30 for a 2:30 kick and not letting people line up prior to 30 mins to gates opening (supposedly) sounds like a recipe for disaster!

If you brought pressure, McNamara was at least going to scramble and could pick up 5 yards.

If we bring enough pressure he won't be able to get away.

Spencer would literally see the defender coming at him 5 yards away and he could not maneuver at all.

Does Rocco have a slight mental advantage over Cade, having been in this game before? Obviously he didnt play, but he went through the same preparations and knows what it takes to win this game. Not saying Cade hasnt played in big games, but the UM/OSU game doesnt quite compare to this one

Huh? OSU vs Michigan is a much bigger game with bigger stakes.

Serious Simon? They will only open the gates 30' prior to kickoff! That seems crazy!

They will supposedly allow you to line up for parking 30 mins prior to the lots opening. So you can start lining up at 8AM b/c parking lots open at 8:30AM

I firmly believe we have a better team this year but not really sure that anyone can confidently say we always have more talent. Since the 2017 NFL draft Iowa has had 26 draft picks with 14 of those being in the top 3 rounds. We have had 10 in that same time frame with only 3 in the top 3 rounds.

Yes, saying or thinking that we always have more talent than the Herks is not rational.

Agree, I was suprised to see them starting. I wouldn't be suprised to see some changes along the line for the Iowa game.

I spoke about the offense in my post above so now the defense. I’d like to think there is a way to scheme to cover Iowa’s TEs, especially in long yardage situations. It seems like if you can limit the TE passing game they don’t have much else. For instance, maybe a LB or safety jumps one of those delayed crossing routes or underneath screens. In fact, I don’t remember exactly but that might have been how Reeder got his pick last year.

That was the best game against UNI I have seen in years. I feel the same about this weekend and that this will be the cleanest game ISU has had against the team out east in years. Good guys 20-13

We blitzed a lot in the first half against UNI and I hope we keep it up. Get a few hits on McNamara early and force him into running situations. I’d rather risk giving up a big play to play the long game and try to wear Cade down.

This is the most aggravating thing! We usually have more talent in all phases other than punter, of course. But we just manage to flub it up. The fact that an offense with Purdy, Hall, Kolar, etc could never beat UI, but a Dekkers led offense did, in kinnick no less? Absolutely mind boggling
