does anyone else think that are slumping has started when he left the program. I truly believe he was Campbell’s right hand man not only for the offense but his top recruiter those first 4-5 years.
Campbell made a huge mistake bringing Manning back as OC vs hiring Alex.
That was pretty much the plan all the time though I believe.Campbell made a huge mistake bringing Manning back as OC vs hiring Alex.
Probably because Alex wasn't going to be a yes man.Campbell made a huge mistake bringing Manning back as OC vs hiring Alex.
Our best year was 2020 in the Fiesta Bowl, Golesh was not on the staff. You can make the argument he recruited a lot of the talent and that would be correct for that.does anyone else think that are slumping has started when he left the program. Makes senseProbably because Alex wasn't going to be a yes man.
Him and Tom Manningdoes anyone else think that are slumping has started when he left the program. I truly believe he was Campbell’s right hand man not only for the offense but his top recruiter those first 4-5 years.
It was but it was always a dumb plan IMO. And that's not just hind sight. That was pretty much the plan all the time though I believe.
He was still worth the risk. He was insanely talented, just had his issues.Golesh was responsible for Jacob Park!
Makes sense
The first couple of years I recall there being a presence inside of the coaching staff, a drive where they were going to scour the nation to find the hidden gems and recruit the hell out of them. It was an inspiring picture of a group of young coaches who were gonna change the system and flip the game on its head. I have always thought that Golesh played a big part in that energy. Now, it seems like the coaches have stagnated and don't appear to have that young energy and drive. I've been wondering if that changed when Alex moved on.
I guess it's a feeling. I didn't mean that our recruiting has plateaued, just that it seems like the energy around it changed after AG left. I don't pay all that much attention, though; just my personal anecdote. How does this narrative fit the actual recruitment rankings? I also really liked Golesh. His interview with CW shortly before he left was outstanding. However, I'm not sure that I would say that our current coaches have "stagnated" in recruiting, unless that means that we have plateaued at a level of recruiting that is the highest in our history. Maybe somebody else can provide the actual data regarding recruitment rankings.
