Yep, ever since last year he's lost a TON of his shine to national pundits.
Most think he caught lightning in a bottle with Purdy and now we're back to reality.
The more success Purdy has the more that line becomes true to perception.

The reason I'm upset more than anything is the offensive line is bad. BAD. That's a 3 year fix.

TBF I believe pundits only look back a couple games. If somehow this team starts clicking in the Big XII he will be the hot new toy again.

Sure, but do you have faith that is going to happen based on the last two years? The last three games?

So they are a good MAC team. Bad loss any time you lose to a MAC team. It was stated this loss at Ohio was the worst in Iowa State history. Not even close.
I think some people take Iowa State history as how long they've been watching games. I could dig into my memory banks and find about 20 that were worse.

No clue. I don't know the future. But I know I'm going to be loud and proud in the stands like I am every single game. And this year taking it to Norman.

This is exactly the mindset that everyone needs to have. Doesn’t matter who the coach is. Doesn’t matter who the players are.

Unless a trucking company comes in with NIL money and buys linemen to come in.

Matt Campbell is a great culture and program building head coach.
He just needs good people to call the plays and formations for him.

There's nothing wrong with that, there's plenty of culture coaches out there that have great play callers under them that make them successful.

Dabo Swinney, Matt Rhule, Nick Saban, Barry Switzer.

All do not call plays or are not involved in the offense.

Barry Switzer once said there's a good reason head coaches shouldn't call plays, "You've got the worst seat in the house. I would never call plays from the sideline, no way I could. You don't know where the ball is"

Does CMC call plays now? Has that been confirmed or denied yet?

I support giving CMC a chance to get things back on track but Stormin being this vocal has me rethinking. They were on this site arguing to keep Danny Mac, McDermott, Rhoads and Prohm. CMC getting their support is the death nail.

Reduced our buyouts. Gave those coaches the extra chance which is appealing to all the new coaching hires. Ultimately found better coaches than the ones we lost without an endless string of buyouts. Interesting that my support of JP and Campbell influences your views . And you continue to misrepresent my support for Prohm. I wanted TJ to follow Hoiberg. But said since Prohm was hired I would support him and give him a chance. Prohm had some success. But IMO we underachieved. The last year of Prohm we knew he was cooked. And Prohm proved to be a mistake. We should have hired TJ first. But that is my opinion. And I have ultimately supported what JP decides.

This. A not great comparison but it feels like he's trying to be Elon and have his hand on everything as a CEO. When he'd be more fit to be like my companies previous CEO, a guy who was just the face of the company and delegated everything. He made clients happy because he knew his stuff in the medical world but he didn't know a thing about software so day to day decisions would have been a nightmare.

Wish he would just focus on the OL.

Has anybody seen the deep fake (not really even a good deep fake) of Cambell's press conference? Pretty funny. I don't know how to put it on here properly, otherwise I would. Sorry if somebody already posted it earlier on this thread.

I don't give a flying jack Sj*t crap if they had 10th year seniors. The apologists are unreal. We are allegedly a Big 12 team playing a freaking Mac team. Yes, a good team, but a MAC team. And got physically whupped as much as I would if I stepped into a ring with prime Mike Tyson.

Hufford - started 3 years, essentially
Miller - 2nd year starting
SImmons - 3rd year starting
Bonifas - has been here, what, 2-3 years?
Neal - is new but he's not a true freshman

Don't act like we had a bunch of 18 year old kids. We had men over the age of 21 playing other men over the age of 21 and got our crap pushed in.

Or that we are the only team that has a lot of underclassmen playing. Because its not like we're the only young team in America.

We are in year freaking 7. We just brought in a new S&C, and was raved about how much weight and strength and everyone gained.

Yes, Iowa State is never going to win a national title in football.
Yes, Iowa State is never going to perennially win the Big 12.
Yes, Iowa State is never going to finish top 25 in recruiting.
Yes, Iowa State is never going to win 8+ games regularly.
Yes, Iowa State is going to be athletically at a disadvantage against certain teams like Texas, OU, etc.

NONE of that pertains to Ohio. NONE of that pertains to Northern Iowa.

I completely support having realistic expectations at Iowa State. But I am so tired of the apologists and excuses after losing to Iowa (again) in a game where we self destructed and looked like crap on offense (again) and struggling to push around an FCS team and getting pushed around by a MAC team.

How exactly is it unrealistic to expect an offensive line to not look like dog crap with an offense that looks like it can run effectively more than 6-8 plays? This is a team that was leading the nation in turnovers and we just lost the turnover battle.

There is no spin for this. No justifying it. It was ugly. It was embarassing. It was that simple. And rather than having a coach who comes out and says it's unacceptable and its on him and the coaches he talks about how they're a hair off. I am as close as I've ever been to apathy with Iowa State football and I was a fan during Walden and the end of Criner.
