The million degree cherry pies from McDonald's we way better than what they have now. View attachment 117496

They had guava pies in at the one by Waikiki Beach a few years ago. I went there like five mornings in a row just for those things!!

I miss the hawaiian pizza from Old Chicago. They say they can make it but it hasn't been the same. :(

That Pizza Hut in Ottumwa would have been owned by Ivan Teinson, not sure on the spelling. He started with Pizza Hut when they first opened up their franchises and his territory was Southern Iowa and Northern Missouri, at one time he owned all the Pizza Huts around Ottumwa, Fairfield, Kirksville he had around 15 or so total if I remember correctly. Also owned the Mexican place in the North part of Ottumwa and the Steak place beside it. Built his corporate offices out by the city golf course north of Ottumwa. Guys was worth 10's of millions off selling pizza.

Fiesta Cantina and Sirloin Stockade, I believe it was. I remember when both those places opened. I definitely contributed to his millions in earnings, lol.

(Ivan Tennyson was the name, it popped up when I was researching how long ago Sirloin Stockade opened. 1974, it was … he sold the place in 2019. That’s a long restaurant run!)

Some drink thoughts:

- Same with the Cedar Ridge Single Malt. By far my favorite of the Cedar Ridge offerings, but I don’t see it offered anywhere
Agreed on this being the best offering they have. I was just at the distillery in Swisher last weekend and they had it. Also had it at Wall to Wall Wines & Spirits in WDM so definitely keep checking places.

He passed away five years ago or so, and they have started to sell of his assets, Sirloin Stockade is now a sports bar, and Festa Cantina is now Mike's Pizza.

Sirloin Stockade is a coffee shop I think. Godfrey's Ale House was Pizza Hut?

I'll throw another one out there, McDonalds had a great steak McMuffin breakfast sandwich they discontinued. Was going to put the McRib on this list as they supposedly had a farewell tour for it last year it sounds like it may be back in some markets in November for a limited time.
Keeping with McDonald's: the deep fried cherry and apple pies were so freaking good, but not good for one's health obviously.

Also, the fries used to be deep fried in beef tallow back in the 70's and early 80's. Their fries are still awesome, but not quite as good as those from the past.

A general one is Buffalo Wild Wings. When the store near us was new they were actually good wings, but after a few years the quality has been spiraling. Tastes like they went cheap on ingredients.

I feel like this is every chain restaurant the last 20-30 years, including some mentioned in this thread already.

Shareholders won't accept anything but perpetual growth. During the upward phase of these chains, the businesses are able to satisfy that by continually opening new locations. Once that levels off and the business matures, the only way to maintain that perpetual growth is pinching pennies at every corner, over time reducing the quality of the experience until you just have a bunch of different flavors of applebees in the marketplace.

Very much agreed on BWW being in that list though. I used to go there often in the mid 00s, but haven't had the urge to go there in years now.

Remember the Priazzo? Kind of a deep dish, but with a crust on top (I think)? That didn’t last too long.

Ah, I had forgotten about that.

Another from P-Hut is Sicilian, maybe still available as "specialty" combo (?) but the one I remember it came in a rectangular pan, for limited period. It overlapped with the Bigfoot era, I think.
