Do your time and get paid.

Brock probably doesn’t get an original chance with the 49ers if he’s not on a minimum salary.

49ers gonna be in cap hell when Purdy due to get paid. Be shocked if they can keep him. Better hope can win Super Bowl soon.
Prior to the trade deadline, the 49ers actually have a ton of cap space. They signed chase young and Washington is still taking most of that cap hit this year.

Honestly, if they pay Purdy above average but not Burrow/Mahomes money, they will be fine.

They likely won’t be able to keep both chase young and Purdy (given that Aiyuk is probably going to get paid as well in the next contract).

Honestly their cap situation is pretty damn good, even when they do pay Purdy. I’m much more worried about what they will do when Trent Williams retires. Their line isn’t great outside of him.

Teams try to take away what you're best at. Then if you make the play anyway, hat's off to you. With Brock, the 49ers are good at whatever is available. Brock has been able to make the right read and get the ball out on time. I thought at ISU he held the ball too long. I don't know whether it was coaching, scheme or just development. Rocco is great at getting the ball out of his hand.
My lay pov was our routes were too long developing and we just expected our line to hold up. Which didn’t always happen.

Feel like Jay Jordan has called out improved route trees and quicker developing pass plays this year. Which he respectfully bemoaned for the past few seasons IIRC

Today an article detailed how many minutes (MINUTES!) the top paid QBs play to earn what BP does in a season.

11 minutes - Lamar Jackson
16 minutes - Patrick Mahomes
19 minutes - Daniel Jones
19 minutes - Deshaun Watson
24 minutes - Joe Burrow

The others are listed, too, at ESPN.com

Just not "right." IMHO.
That’s favorable view for Purdy at the most valuable player award.

All ^ and what do they have to show for it. Great investment by 49ers. Brock gets the award for his humility. Win-win

And 3 of those listed aren’t even playing right now.

It is damaging to the media industry of a surface level analysis of draft prospects and focus on top college programs and their players.

Which is why the guys who spend the most time running their mouths about that stuff (i.e. Cowherd and some others) are so invested in protecting the narrative instead of putting in the work and looking more closely. They only care about the next 8 minute segment. They don't want to know more than what fits into that.

When you look at real NFL analysts, the guys who are looking at tons of tape and talking to teammates and coaches, they were almost all on board with Purdy real early.
There’s never been a mea culpa regarding Big 12 offenses. Even though on any given Sunday the top QB1s are dominated by Big 12 qbs. The narrative was allowed to persist that Bog 12 had shoddy defense.

Chase Young has always been considered a 1 season rental, there’s no way they’ll be able to pay him what he’s worth.

Maybe so but what is he actually worth? He has 15.5 sacks in his career and half of those came in his rookie year 3 years ago. He's been good with the 49ers but not amazing.

If he likes the culture of the 49ers and they make him a reasonable offer, he should stay put. No guarantee they'll make him any offer of course...

Whatever the reason, it was excruciating to watch.

If that happens, I’m pretty sure an asteroid is going to destroy the Earth And we will all die.
I remember having a similar feeling when ISU did this in one year span (2000):
  • WBB wins Big 12 regular season
  • MBB wins Big 12 regular season
  • WBB wins Big 12 Tournament
  • MBB wins Big 12 Tournament
  • WBB advances to NCAA Tournament Sweet Sixteen
  • MBB advances to NCAA Tournament Elite Eight
  • FB team breaks two decade bowl drought winning the Insite.com Bowl
*The Men's and Women's season and tournament four way sweep had never been done before in Big 12 history.
**The common element in all of this was Stevie Johnson. He was a starter and all around glue guy on that BB team, dated one of the WBB players and then played LB for McCarney on the FB team after his BB eligibility ran out.

I've heard people complain that he should have hit Aiyuk for an easier catch on this play but the endzone cam reveals that Purdy had to throw around a guy quickly closing in his face so he placed it where only Aiyuk could get it and the guy in in front of him couldn't knock it down.
I didn't think it was a great throw when I saw it live either. Definitely a more difficult play when shown from other angles. I assumed it was a bit of a wet ball issue. Just so used to seeing him put the ball right on people when they are wide open like that it looked off.

In this case, the "asteroid killing us all" moment was March 25th, 2000, when the MBB team had THAT loss to Michigan State, which was immediately followed by the WBB losing to Penn State on an offensive rebound putback with 12 seconds left. Although that was months before the bowl game, of course.

Purdy's release point on the wheel route to CMC. Looks like Iowa State has produced the two best point guards in the pros today, but only one plays basketball.

Watch that QB School video posted above. He points out multiple throws where Brock shows elite anticipation getting the ball out before the receiver has even started his break. That leads to clean catches with separation and in stride and opportunities for YAC. If you watch more of those videos from other games he has pointed it out in game after game after game. Purdy creates YAC opportunities with anticipation and accuracy.

So many of the "experts" like to diminish Purdy's accomplishments by pointing out that 48.5 % of his total passing yards come from YAC since he has such talented receivers. However, these "experts" don't mention the fact that the 4 most recent quarterback MVP's (including Rogers and Mahomes) all had an even higher percentage of their total passing yards come from YAC.

So much for the idiot experts.
