I'm apparently among the very, very few who don't get why this thing is such a big deal? I wish I understood the spiritual aspect that many seem to have for it.
From what I hear, there’s a radical difference between the partial eclipse we’re getting in Iowa and actually being in the path of the total eclipse. I can’t say, because I’ve never experienced it, but those who’ve been there for a total eclipse say it’s indescribable.

You could just say it's a glowing black dot in the sky. Really not hard to describe.

Will DSM notice it being any darker? I might see a hint of it right now but nothing earth shattering. It's pretty amazing to see the sun look like a crescent.

Well, I suppose … one guy they were talking to this morning on TV said about half the people experiencing totality will start to cry, so that seems a bit more impressive than a glowing black dot - but then again I’ve never experienced it so …

I've noticed the reflected light from the WOI's big satellite dishes getting much dimmer. Looks a little different than just normal cloud cover.

Overall it will seem dimmer, I am starting to notice this as well.
