From what I hear, there’s a radical difference between the partial eclipse we’re getting in Iowa and actually being in the path of the total eclipse. I can’t say, because I’ve never experienced it, but those who’ve been there for a total eclipse say it’s indescribable.
Waukee isn't letting kids out or near the windows. I understand with today's lawsuit environment if a kid has the stupids.Schools here are doing the opposite. Not letting kids out for recess
I remember back in probably 5th or 6th grade going outside and using those pin hole boxes.

You could just say it's a glowing black dot in the sky. Really not hard to describe.

Will DSM notice it being any darker? I might see a hint of it right now but nothing earth shattering. It's pretty amazing to see the sun look like a crescent.

Well, I suppose … one guy they were talking to this morning on TV said about half the people experiencing totality will start to cry, so that seems a bit more impressive than a glowing black dot - but then again I’ve never experienced it so …You could just say it's a glowing black dot in the sky. Really not hard to describe.
My dumbass looked up about 45 min ago to see if it started without glasses not even thinking.
I've noticed the reflected light from the WOI's big satellite dishes getting much dimmer. Looks a little different than just normal cloud cover.

Overall it will seem dimmer, I am starting to notice this as well.
