Wherever I go, there I am.
Just got home from that absolute curbstomping, couple thoughts:

1. I am afraid we are witnessing one of the great collapses in Cyclone history. This could be 2002 football levels of bad

2. There’s no energy or emotion from most of the team. They’re just lifeless out there

3. Whoever is getting paid to run the offense should be out of a job. It’s like they made zero adjustments. Standing around and eventually throwing up a contested three or driving into 3 guys in the paint isn’t working.

More amazing bench production from Heise and Chatfield tonight.

There's no way to sugarcoat it, they are both colossal recruiting busts. The staff needs to do better on adding talent to an already elite returning core.
There’s a direct correlation to Chatfileds production falling off and Milan’s injury. Everyone is packing the paint on us, he has no room to operate.

In the 21-22 season they were 15-5 and after beating Mizzou at the end of January, they lost 4 straight to start the month of February before turning it back around and making the sweet 16.

In the 22-23 season they were 15-4 and after getting blown out at Mizzou finished the regular season losing 8 of the last 11 games in which C. Grill was dismissed during that time. That year finished getting stomped by Pitt in the NCAA.

My hope is that this is like the 21-22 season and things get turned around.

From what I am seeing.....outside of anyone getting kicked off the team.....this group is looking more like the 22-23 team and we have already seen their best basketball this year.

Wrong.....hopefully. We will see.

Him and Heise have scored a combined 5 points in the last 4 games. We can't continue running them out there if they are zero threat to even score one basket per week.

At this point, why would it hurt to play Nojus? Sure, he's inexperienced but I have more confidence in his ability to get a bucket and create more offense than Heise or Chatfield.

I get the sentiment, but they need to put someone out there to just give the other guys a break for a couple minutes. The guys are already showing tired legs, you want them to play more minutes?

I actually dont disagree with you, but we've got to continue to have them out there for defensive purposes (Mainly Heise). We are still a top defensive team in the country. (Currenly 6 via KenPom)

If you don't play Heise and Chat, who do you replace them with? Do you replace them with the hope that those dudes perform offensively? Because they, too could be a 0. Plus, you'd drop off drastically on the defensive end.

We can all armchair QB all we want, at the end of the day we don't know sh*t compared to TJ and his staff.

Might be time to get Nojus more minutes and maybe even throw Fish or Rock out there for 3 or 4 minutes then. At least Nojus and Rock were highly ranked recruits.

One aspect I was thinking about during the game is how many of our guys are new to high major basketball. Dishon, JJ, Heise, Chatfield. This schedule is a grind. There’s no Evansville. There’s no San Francisco. There’s no Portland. You can see where they’d hit a wall having to go into these environments and play this level of completion without any real respite.
yet Zeke Mayo isn't have any issues with the transition up to Big 12 play.....not to say that there aren't growing pains from the level of competition increase but other teams have transfers who contribute right away

Did Chris Williams really say a 1 seed is still in play?
In the fantasy that we win out, I think it's still in play (26-5, 16-4), but there are probably lots of teams who can argue that, and even then perhaps not fully under our control, would need one of the other likely #1's to fall off.

Wasn’t he terrible the first game against us? Sometimes players have slumps.

Heise seemed like a good get at the time to be honest. I don’t know what’s going on there. Guessing he’s just not a P5 player. Chat looked good early in the season, but has fell off a cliff. Still time for them to show something if they want or can
They looked good when they had an athletic advantage over the opponent. Much like ISU's offense.

It's been mentioned previously...ISU runs a very simple offensive scheme that IMO appears to rely heavily on athletic advantage over the opponent. That works well for a light pre-conference schedule. It can also work well for the early conference games when the team is still fresh with plenty of energy to expend. It also worked out well for the early conference schedule this year because ISU played some struggling teams.

But now, in the conference grind when running up against better athletes, the simple offense doesn't generate many easy looks, and the improved athleticism of the opponent makes it much harder to finish those difficult shots that were going in earlier.

Nobody is really shooting well for ISU now. Poor shooting kind of boils down to a few things...1) shooters are exhausted (mentally and/or physically), 2) the shots they are getting/taking are too difficult, or 3) the shooters are outmatched athletically by their opponent.

What did Nojus show you to make you think he will succeed right now? He was not that good against the “buy” teams. Confident, sure, but defensively he was not good and he also didn’t make shots. So this seems more like a “backup qb” situation than anything else from the Nojus lovers.

He had 17 points on 7-19/3-9/0-0 shooting. "Terrible" is subjective of course, not a great game efficiency-wise but I wouldn't say terrible. He is sort of in a Curtis Jones situation where he's the only real threat on the roster to take and hit threes at a high volume.

I guess for most of us we think he has more of a chance to better offensively than Heise for example.....currently, our bench is providing nothing

How is it possible that you have the worst opinions on everything? It's incredible really
We aren't running an offense.
We aren't staying true to the defense.
We're chucking up trash late in the shot clock.
We aren't focused.

How do you get a shot clock violation when you're down 20 with five minutes left? Have some urgency.....

This ain't a Milan thing. This is a mentally weak team.

Caleb Love ruined us.
