Great perspective. Two things. The staff is really good at this and identifies players that fit what they are looking for and any dollars raised gives them more ability to close the deal.

If you want to support a specific athlete, go to fanstake.com and you can directly invest in a specific player. Use the word CYCLONE for a free $25 to use. Showing love to the current players has already been very helpful in that space.
After reading the fine print on the Fanstake website I have questions and concerns. It says that if a player or recruit commits to attending/transfering to/remaining at your chosen school Fanstake will attempt to enter into an NIL contract with the player. However it also says that Fanstake alone will determine the amount of the contract offered. So if 100 people put $100 each into JJeff for example, what is to stop Fanstake from offering a $2000 NIL contract to JJeff and pocketing the rest? They clearly say that they are for profit and they clearly state that they will take a cut. Is there any transparency here?

What is your experience with Fanstake? How much of what is pledged do they offer and how much are they pocketing in fees?

I believe the original plan for Hilton Coliseum was very similar in design to Assembly Hall.

For whatever reason, they thankfully went a different route and we have a "Cathedral" type arena in college hoops as a result.

I've seen IU's Assembly Hall up close, been on the floor. I hate the design. Like you said, it's just weird. To have primo seats (mid-court) so far away you practically need binoculars to see is just stupid IMO. And having very few seats behind the basket sucks as well. As a student, I loved the behind the basket seats at Hilton. It's just a great view.
Watching games on tv back in the 80s was awful. They had that off center shot where the camera was seemingly at courtside and you couldn’t tell what was going on. Was I dreaming that?

I look at it this way: One of the reasons Fred left for the Bulls was he got hurt over the Rashad Vaughn deal I dont think we truly understand this was the beginning of Fred leaving.

Let's look at TJ with unbiased glasses. He lost Tyrese Hunter over NIL. We, as fans, used it for fuel but ultimately let it roll right off because we were gifted with the hometown hero who knew dang well he was staying home since his freshman year in high school. Tamin instantly came in and made the fans forget all about Hunter. We, as fans, got lucky.

Now lets say this spring (as an example) Milan or Jefferson come out and say "Thanks but I'm going to go get paid, sure I'd love to win a national championship but I think I can continue to develop my professional skills at this next stop and I can make it to the pros --which is my ultimate goal in life-- all while making twice the amount I do at Iowa State." Will, we as fans, get lucky to get baled out by another local kid who comes in and makes us forget. That's a tough one to see happening.

TJ however, will get hurt from Milan and Jefferson (again as an example) leaving. Suddenly he gets a chance to do his job at another institution who has the financial ability to let him coach and NOT have to worry about his players leaving on him for more money.

I'm not saying he's going to leave for Indiana, but if he loses a few more players over NIL deals you simply can not blame the guy to considering other jobs that give him better tools for him to do his job all while providing a crutch to not have to go through pain of kids leaving him.
Which is why Albaugh needs to donate all of his life savings to We Will

Yeah. I hate hoping up the forums and this thread is always near the top. It’s tiring
I’m someday expecting this to go the ways of other bad news conjecture like the Milan hand injury Keshon and Curtis out that eventually is true. Waiting for the “He Gone” post
It could one day, I guess.

As I and others have mentioned, this thread along with others, stemmed from a clip of Jeff Goodman saying “who they should/he would go after if he were Indiana”. It’s basically like any other coaching search where someone in the media gives “5 candidates to look for” at any certain job or “this hire would be home run”.

Imo, this has been LARGELY overblown (shocking I know).

No. You weren’t dreaming. Watching an Indiana game on TV was torture back in the day. Oklahoma State was terrible viewing too, but for the exact opposite reason. Their cameras were in the rafters.

I love Iowa State, but if TJ were to leave because of NIL that might just end my interest in college athletics. I've been fearing this ever since NIL became a thing.

A successful coach leaving due to not having adequate support to accomplish goals isn’t unique to NIL

If we want to be a top program rather than have the occasional top teams, at some point it’s likely we’ll need to improve our support

While it's not unique to NIL, it may be more permanent. I'm worried about ISU being relegated to a lower class down the road, and it's not something I would enjoy watching.

TJ leaving for another college job would probably be the biggest nut kick in ISU history.
Agreed. Fred leaving for the Bulls hurt, but it was the NBA, making it more tolerable. Cael leaving for Penn State also hurt, but since it wasn't basketball or football, the masses weren’t as butt hurt. TJ leaving for another men’s basketball college job would easily top both. Having said that, I don’t think TJ will leave unless he doesn’t think he’s getting sufficient support.

2 companies that are on my do not call list.
Stivers tried to tell me I needed new tie rods for $1150. Took it somewhere else and they were completely fine and even if I needed new ones it was a $350 dollar job and about 45 minutes of labor.

Took it in another time for a leak, paid the $99 dollar diagnostic fee. Tech said he couldn't find a leak and that to look harder he needed to take off some plastic guards and that would cost and additional $180. So I guess the initial $99 bucks was just to do part of the job.

I won't even get into Golden Rule, absolute crooks.

No, but I'm not really in a position where I can pay an employer almost $300k to work for them.
I mean a lot of us here would jump at a $300k job. I mean I make good money and that would still over double. And our guys are getting offered that over what we are currently giving them to transfer is what we are competing with unfortunately. I hate it as much as anyone but its unfortunately the game currently until someone can actually fix this ****. I'll give a bit to enjoy the Cyclones and what success we are having despite the cards being stacked against us still. I can give up buying a bottle or 2 of whiskey for that for now.

Really wish this thread could be split between "NIL Stuff" and "Otz going to [whereever]" I care about the NIL. I really don't give a sh!t about where people think Otz is going.

It’s not split up because it’s the same topic.

There is 1 way to ensure TJ doesn’t go “to wherever.”

And it’s to have the necessary NIL.

The ultimate Cyclone torture - give up $100 of booze to donate to the basketball Collective, but then not have said booze to watch Cyclone basketball (which often requires booze).

It’s never been easy to be “us”!

Thankfully Ames Lager is pretty good, though 1858 vodka could use some work.
