I am not a hockey fan, but am always disappointed the Sharks cannot do ANYthing in the postseason. However, at least the A's have a history of winning the WS in the past. I take that as proof it can happen again. Yes, it's been 25 years since the last one and 40 years since the title prior to that. But the Giants had not won a title since moving from NY, then they won two of three starting in a season where they didn't even claim their own division title until game 162. It's ok to be hopeful - we're not talking Cubs here!

Btw, Oaktown jumped out to a 6-0 lead on the Twins and hung on to win 6-5. The Angels lost to Boston, so the A's are back to a 4 game lead in the West. =)

I thought that bomb that just went foul of Doolitle was fair for sure, thank God he just missed that. Let's sweep today!

Wasn't meant to be yesterday. Gregerson, who had been doing pretty well lately, returned to his old ways (of being an under-hand softball pitcher, apparently). At least Hammel did well for the second straight game. 6-4 on the ten game home stand. Could have been better. Now they have to go TO Kansas City, starting tonight. Hopefully this series goes better than the one in Oakland did.

It will be interesting to see if they can sustain their run this time. Earlier in the season, they took over 1st place for three days (or so) and promptly lost it with a ill-timed skid. As much as I would love to see KC win the Central, they can stand to drop their next four.

They have been very inconsistent most of the year. The bats have came alive though in the last 20 or so games. Guys like Billy Butler are finally hitting in line with their projections

Looks like the A's did their part to assist KC into 1st place last night. They put two on in the 9th before failing to advance anyone home. Three more chances to get this series.

A's are struggling right now, I hope they can at least split with KC. Also, I'm rooting like hell for the Royals I don't want the Tigers in the playoffs!

Here's my ideal realistic playoff scenario:

AL East - Orioles
AL Central - Royals
AL West - Athletics
AL Wild Card - Angels (don't want them, but there's no stopping them)
AL Wild Card - Blue Jays

NL East - Nationals
NL Central - Brewers
NL West - Dodgers
NL Wild Card - Pirates
NL Wild Card - Reds

Outrside of the Dodgers (and some may challenge), your projected six division winners are a little abnormal this year. Yankees, Red Sox, White Sox, Rangers, and Atlanta have not had great years.

I think the A's win today with Lester pitching vs. Guthrie. But who knows the rest of the series. If KC is winning by the 7th inning the game is virtually over. Herrera, Davis, and Holland have been absolutely filthy.

And this I personally love, although network execs have to absolutely hate the scenario because not as many people will tune in to watch. I find (most of) these teams infinitely more interesting matchups than the "regulars."

That's one of the reasons I love baseball; the parity. A team can win the World Series one year and spend the next in the cellar, and vice-versa.

Also, the White Sox have won their division once in the past decade, and it was in a 1-0 tiebreaker game...

FINALLY! Someone snapped KC's winning streak and they did it in a big way. Oakland had 20 hits and racked up 11 runs in their 11-3 win. It was nice to see the bats swinging (and connecting) again after a bit of a lull. Donaldson had two homers.

The Royals and Jason Vargas dominate the A's tonight to hopefully start a new winning streak. Won the season series versus the best team in baseball with Big Game James on the bump tomorrow.

The A's used up all their hits on Tuesday, apparently. Hopefully they can drop KC today and split the series. With the way the Royals have been streaking lately, a split would be acceptable. Oakland lost a game to the Angels, unfortunately. They go to Atlanta next. With the Braves fading of late, I'm hoping this will be a series win, if not a sweep, and keep Oakland up a few games.

Finally the A's are on a channel I could watch last night and the offense is absolutely putrid. Figures.. Win today and get the split that's what I was hoping for going into this series.

I think they are missing Cespedes more than anybody expected.

And I thought they had this one in hand when they took the lead in the 6th and knocked Shields out of the game. The Shark and the relief pitching had a terrible 7th and immediately coughed up the lead and dug a big hole. Don't really care about this KC series (aside from not playing well in 3 of 4), but the A's are going to have to step it up down the stretch. They have a lot of work to do. They're a much better team that this series has shown.

Yeah, I was hoping they'd hang on to that 3-2 lead but man the bullpen was BRUTAL in the 7th. KC is really on fire right now I hope they keep it up, I still want nothing to do with the Tigers in the playoffs.

Wow, down 4 in the top of the 9th and the A's load the bases with 2 outs and slugger Brandon Moss at the plate. He flies out to left and the game is over. Watching on the game tracker so no clue if it was close to a HR. Would like to see video.

Damn.
