I've been most impressed with Lard, Shayok, Lewis and Jacobson. Disappointed that we haven't seen Beverly and Wigginton.

If you thirsting for Lindell summer highlights FIBA YOUTUBE team U19 Canada shorts and complete games.
Competition isn't bad either, though not the same as the CCL. ;-)

He's not going to "wow" you with athletic ability, but he's definitely an effort guy. Similar style to Kenny Pratt, IMO.

Thanks for posting. I will stick with my prediction ... DJ, LW, NWB, SY and JB. I do not agree that young and Lard can stretch the floor. If they are shooting 3's or long 2's we will be in trouble.

Man Lard and Shayok on the same team. Have they come close to losing yet. Shayok has been better than I expected. He looks like he is cruising to 50 ppg.

J-Diggy, do you know if Solomon and Terrence are playing tonight?

Sorry I didn't respond. As of the time of your post they were both in but Solomon was a late scratch. As you know, the situation is fluid.....

Good videos as always.

Thanks for the update. From the two nights I went, Shayok was the best player on the court and his team looked pretty good as well. Especially the second time I saw Lard, he seemed more comfortable.

I get it.... it's just CCL but I really like the looks of Lard.

What immediately sticks out to me about Lard is his size, but also how incredibly fluid and under control his body movements are. You can't fake that. Shayok is going to be a beast for us next year too. As much as I'm looking forward to this season, next season should be pretty amazing. We're going to be so talented and experienced at every spot.

They lost the first game Lard played in, a double overtime loss to Young and Lewis when Lard and Shayok's team didn't have any subs.

Cameron Lard highlights.

Marial Shayok highlights

What's going on in that last highlight of Lard. At first I thought it was a layup drill, 3 of Lard's teammates are standing around looking at Lard as he dunks it, then at the last moment you see an opposing player run in the frame.

Brase

There are your starters IMO..from sounds of it Brase recovery well ahead of schedule. Brase is a kid who knows pick n roll and can hit the 3..he's also big and good rebounder.

Lewis
Lard
J Long
Beverly

Off bench

Only one problem I see this far..Who is coming off bench to spell LW or DJ?

I can see this team being one of the better defensive teams we've seen in a while.

I think the most likely scenario is LW or Donovan are subbed out relatively early then subbed back in a little later to spell the other. I think for the most part they share the pg duties albeit I could see them both playing big minutes especially if they are on. Also as some posters mentioned you will probably see some Nick Babb running the offense even with LW or Donovan out their to give them a breather.

Also count me in on the camp that says Lard is a starter by the end of the year. I realize everyone looks good in CCL but he is probably one of the most skilled athletes we have had in the post in a while, emphasis on skilled athlete (not talking about Niang YMCA can't jump skill), and that can be really valuable in the big 12 against teams like Baylor.

Towards the end of the game so his team wasn't really trying to get back on defense so it was basically just a cherry picking dunk but I had to include it.

Finally got to CCL last night. Here are my thoughts:

Shayok is an outstanding player. I can see why he wanted to get out of Virginia. His chemistry on the court with Lard and Drake's Rivers was fantastic. Best ball movement of the night. Shayok was great from 3-point range and had lots of nice passes too.

Lard is a freak athlete. He is the new "Burton." I didn't expect to see such athleticism from him. And some pretty good passing (helped by Shayok filling lanes). Of course, he is still raw (e.g. pretty weak post-up moves), so I don't expect to see him on the floor much this year. However, he will be a beast by the time he is a senior. I hope fans can be patient with his development.

Jackson is always forcing the action. I love the way that he plays so hard and always has that look of wanting to drive a stake into the heart of the opponent. One thing that stood out was Jackson's choices to use his right hand near the basket, even for layups from the left side. I know he shoots jumpers left-handed and prefers to drive right-handed, but I am worried that he is going to get himself in trouble near the basket if he can't (won't) finish strong with the left hand when needed.

Jacobson had the game winning tip. If that is what he contributes next year, then he will be a great addition. He is a big body, but not really an offensive or defensive force. I expected him to have more of an impact throughout the game, but maybe he was just saving it for the end.

Lewis was the bright spot for me. He reminded me physically and emotionally of Harrison Barnes. He plays very much under control, but with great athleticism. I think I read that his father was his coach. You can tell that he had thought a lot about basketball, not just played a lot. He is young, but seemed very mature (not getting caught up in the trash-talking or bad calls by the refs).

Weiler-Babb was hard to assess last night. The game was really sloppy and hardly any fans stayed. He and Hutchison were the only ISU players in the game. And the top three players for the other team weren't there. He looked like he could take off and dominate the game just about any time he wanted, but he didn't. Jackson, Niang, Mitrou-Long, etc. would have scored 80 in a game like that.

Last thought is that it was fun to see several of the new players experiencing the CCL fans. Guys like Shayok and Jacobson who have been part of big-time programs must really like finally playing for fans who appreciate them personally.

And thanks to Thompsonclone for all the videos. I didn't think you were there last night, but I see the videos posted. We really appreciate the way that you help us get so much out of the CCL games, and in one-minute videos!

Lard is very athletic, but he was cherry-picking a lot on offense and defense. His leaping and control of the ball during dunks was very impressive in person.

I only saw the box score and have a question for you. It shows that Weiler-Babb's team only had five players for the game, but one of them fouled out. What happened after that, did they play with 4 players?
