Tiger looking very solid. Playing his usual conservative game and keeping himself out of trouble so far. Just lipped out a birdie on 5 and has a short birdie putt on 6 to go -1. Everyone looks a little tentative on the greens. They've had a lot of rain so probably playing a little slower than normal.

Honestly Tiger playing as well as he is so far is remarkable. He's been there before and wouldn't be playing if he didn't think he was ready, but still. Coming off the injuries and lengthy break just looking like he belongs is impressive.

Brutal miss for Scheffler with the iron of the tee. Worst of both worlds when you do that.

Just makes you think "maybe the game is really that simple and easy" until you're standing above the ball and have to do it yourself.

I've tried a lot of new "cowabunga" sports since I moved to west coast and drastically better at all of them on my very first try than I was after 20ish years of golf. Always enjoyed it, but hard for me to improve or even simply keep from getting worse.

Everyone I've ever taken out to hit golf balls for the first time or taken out to play has the same "damn I really thought this would be easier" response generally.

I know there is an all encompassing golf season thread, so if this should be merged into that, I’ll let the mods decide. I feel The Masters deserves it’s own thread, and I didn’t see another.

From a golf pick ‘em perspective (I’m sure some out there have seen this), here are my guys this year:

1. Jon Rahm
2. Cam Smith
3. Tony Finau
4. Paul Casey (makes me want to vomit)
5. Webb Simpson
6. Gary Woodland
7-9. Kevin Kisner

At the end of the day, the best 5 are my scoring team in a pool I’m in with some buddies. Anyone else doing this?

ESPN+ coverage about the start.
Tony Finau has wrecked my pool many times. I didn't pick him this year, so I bet he does well.

My wife got into golf the last few years. She didn't realize how hard it is. I told her that its a sport people can play their entire lives and never fully master. She now sees how impressive some of the things these golfers are going each round.
