Seems like he just became a big name because Baylor won it all but he hasn't been a D1 head coach and he has really only been at Christian private schools going back to his time in Texas HS. That is a huge part of Baylor recruiting is selling the religion aspect which suits him specifically because he is definitely very religous forward. I don't know how that translates to recruiting to KSU. Also a lot easier to recruit Texas kids to a Texas school than to KSU. He is going up against Baylor, Texas, Tech, Houston etc. Also, already 55. I don't see this ending well.
That's kind of the Notre Dame recruiting plan. Religious high schools recruit kids to play for their schools on scholarship. Those kids then get funneled to a schools like Notre Dame. Of course, its not a 100% win rate for a school like Notre Dame, but it makes their pipeline and job easier.
