7 years
$20.3 million (most of it guaranteed)
$2.9 million per year (TJ is making like $1.5 million)
Clauses in the contract to protect him if LSU is slammed with NCAA sanctions

Might as well get himself paid. Even if he flops in Baton Rouge, he's pretty set.

I'd like to see how Prohm would do back at Murray. Might just be the place for him.

I don’t disagree with the premise of taking his shot at getting paid. But at this point everybody knows that Murray and Belmont are ready-made jobs in the OVC. The track record of lack of success by Kennedy and Prohm should be a red flag.

Kennedy was 151-116 over 8 years at Texas AM. 2 ncaa Tournament appearances but 66-78 (.458) in the SEC.

Prohm was 97-95 in 6 years with 3 NCAA appearances but 40-68 (.370) in the Big 12.

Billy Kennedy was 107-53 (70-24 conference) at Murray State. (Steve Prohm was 105-29 (54-10 conference) at Murray. McMahon was 154-67 (93-33 conference) at Murray. At this point, fair or unfair, Power 5 AD should probably look in a different direction.

The only success at P5 was Cronin who was 69-24 (42–10 conference) at Murray.

You look at all those numbers. The last 4 coaches at Murray are 269-77. It is like the Kansas of the OVC. Difficult job to really screw up IMO.

LSU rumored to be hiring McMahon from Murray State. Does that signal the return of Prohm to Murray State?
Apparently it's either the top assistant or Prohm.

Honestly, with the step up to the Valley, I think you have to go Prohm. You can't take the chance on a miss that could set you back years in a new and much better league. You know what you've got with Prohm and he'll do fine there.

No I didn’t like the assertion that the only reason why Baylor is good is because they cheat. Which is b.s....

So if every Top 25-50 player (McD AA pool) is paid then you list above is a little short.....
Where was the assertion that the 'only reason' Baylor wins was because they cheat?

The assertion was- Baylor has paid players. You agreed with this several posts back with your 'ALL SCHOOLS' head in the sand rant.

And, yes, my list was not all inclusive. You must have missed the 'etc.' along with the actual initial assertion which got you all Tanged up.

Murray state is a good Mid Major job but it is a bit of a chicken and egg situation. It is a good job to take with promise to get a P5 job and the benefits and money that come with it.

It isn't many coaches goal to stay at a place like Murray St for life (Jacobson at UNI is the exception and even then there are rumors he'd like to try a P5) so if a good opportunity to go to the SEC like LSU comes they will jump even if it is a much harder job.

From afar it may seem like a short sighted decision but coaches are competitive and if you want to win NCAA championships you need to be in P5. If it doesn't work as others said at least you got paid.
Plus a Murray St level job can be available after, thus the Prohm idea of being a replacement.

Another risk for KSU is Tang jumping back to Baylor if Drew leaves.

I really don't see Drew leaving Baylor unfortunately. New arena in the works, solid AD it seems, I'm guessing a solid salary, he might be their Mark Few.

The only thing that might create a desire to leave is if he enjoys living in Waco. I have never been there so I don't know...but I could imagine he might want to go closer to his roots...maybe? Otherwise...he certainly has it rolling down there!

He’s been in Waco for 20 years. If he didn’t enjoy it he would have left already.

Wasn't the rumor last spring that Jacobson was gunning for the Minnesota job (and Kyle Green would have taken over in Cedar Falls if his boss made the move up to the Twin Cities)?

Where would Jacobson even go at this point? Maybe Nebraska after Hoiberg is shown out?

Correct, he was taking the Minnesota job up until they told him what it paid.

There's a reason that they went super young with no HC experience. They're only paying Johnson $1.6M.

I think he'd be in play if Northwestern opens up. I'd say Wisconsin too but he and Gard are the same age even though Gard looks 20 years older
