You don't offer this late with the class almost full and make it conditional. If he was to snap up the offer right now because it's his only P5 one, I'm 100 percent positive we would take him on the spot.
Another way to look at it is that we were looking for someone to fill the role that Kaleb Johnson would have had. With the Hoodjer and his crew scouring MaxPreps for sleepers, they finally decided to pull the trigger.

My only point of contention would be whether the staff intended to take two running backs all along. Because if not, and you aren’t 100% sure Breece is going to go pro, making an offer contingent on him doing so seems like a possibility to me.

After all, there are other positions where they clearly had conditional offers out to the guys who officially visited in June—even if the only “condition” was “the first guy to commit gets the open spot”.

Well, at DE apparently Chase Carter was fourth on the list (according to CyTwins), but the same thing.

Difference is i don't pass myself off as an expert.
I am sorry if my efforts to play Devil’s advocate and point out that we don’t know exactly what’s going on somehow looks like “expertise” to you. Confused, but sorry.

As far as the recruiting tidbits that I post, that isn’t “passing myself off as an expert”. It’s simply that I spend more time to following recruiting than most, and am willing to share what I pick up.

That doesn’t make me an “expert”, it simply means that I have more time to spend following recruiting than most folks.

No wife, no kids, no grandkids to occupy my time. Would you like to trade?

And even then, I focus my time on football recruiting. The in-depth basketball stuff I leave to other folks in that forum. They’re quite good at it.

Again, I’m sorry that you misunderstood. I’m no expert.

Really, that's the only way to look at it. It looks to me like they've been trying to flip Johnson and when they realized they wouldn't be able to do it, they extended this offer to someone they liked nearly as much. To me, that's not a conditional offer unless you want to say that the condition was Johnson turned us down.

Circle the wagons and hold on to the recruits we have will be the biggest accomplishment/goal we should have at this point of the game.

You like to nitpick posts of others when in fact it's all speculation. CMC himself changes course when the opportunity arises. You suggesting Norton's offer was contingent comes across as a CYA as you've informed us time and time again this class won't exceed 18. Personally I'm a bit unfiltered so when I see something that annoys me I tend to call it out. Keep posting stuff you find it is appreciated, just know when I think you're full of crap I'll let you know.
