Iowa State lands four-star Sean Shaw
Iowa State has landed a commitment in four-star WR Sean Shaw who is reminiscent of current WR Allen Lazard.
The word was, with the uncertainty around seniors extra COVID year, they were talking 15-18. Because in ‘22, those guys will count against the 85 limit.
We’re at 14 now. I think what happens is we land the three WR’s if we’re lucky), and a RB to make it 18, then the staff waits to see what happens.
If the NCAA changes the 85 limit for the “Super Seniors”, they have a little more flexibility. If this season’s team knocks it out of the park and most of those ‘21 seniors choose not to take their COVID year—again, more flexibility.
Plus, there is always some attrition to open up a few spots. Oh, and if some of the younger guys really blow up and join Breece in going pro—also, more spots open up.
All that would lead to a few Official Visits during the Fall prior to the December signing date, and (hopefully) a late rush in January, picking up some unsigned gems—or guys being released from their LOI—for the February signing date. I like that thought.
Essex and Gaines are both supposed to announce next week sometime. Gaines set his announcement date for the 17th, I think, and Essex was maybe a day earlier on the 16th? I don't know what Adams is waiting on, and have no clue when he will announce a decision, but it could be any time.
I also don't know which Mr. Gibson you're talking about, but if it's the WR from Florida, I don't think we're in the running for him.
I believe Adam’s is waiting to commit on his mother’s birthday July 28th. If I am remembering correctly.
Thank you! Yes the Mr. Gibson (Jayden) I was thinking about was the 4*, and I see he eliminated ISU for consideration a few days ago (?); for him it's gonna be either FL or GA maybe.
So who is the 4* WR people were talking about? Do we have one considering ISU? I thought the 2-3 WR's left were 3*?

No one is better that Kirby until they show me they can tuck and run for a fourth down conversion.

There are 26-27 seniors listed on the roster, not sure how many aren’t scholarship players. Plus potentially losing Breece and McDonald. No way we only sign 18. If we get all 3 WRs, that leaves only one more spot. Probably closer to 22-24 depending on if we get everyone still out there.
