I wouldn't be surprised if he went to Stanford but I think ISU is in the lead with him.
At this point with this staff I have trouble believing we lead for anyone. They can’t seem to figure out the recruiting part and it’s going to become obvious on the mat in short order.

What do we need to do differently to actually land those kids?

My personal opinion is that Iowa kids are a waste of time. Sure, you have to bring them in on a visit, but if Iowa wants them it is nearly impossible to get them. You take the scraps of whatever is left, but ISU’s recruits have to be mostly out of state. Cael had the same problem and it’s a major reason he’s no longer here.

Committed to Iowa for football and wrestling today.

Great news. Contrary to what I just heard, however. Your source might be better than mine.

Dammit. Looks like mine was right. Honestly didn’t think the Hawks were high on his list. I’m concerned the same thing will happen with Garvin.

My concern with Garvin is the Hawks don’t want him all that much. So ISU will overextend themselves to get him as a way to save face, but he’ll end up not doing much at the college level. Seems to be the way it works with ISU and state of Iowa kids.

That is an unfortunate truth. In addition to Iowa being a historically good program, somehow, the state of Iowa and the entire Iowa fan base have convinced themselves that the Brands are “morally superior” to other coaches. This is beyond my comprehension. I think it was beyond Cael’s comprehension, too.

I’m guessing some of these kids are going to Iowa on a small scholarship. A couple of the kids coming to ISU will end up being really good. Swisirski looks the part. Watched Riggins on the youth circuit & high school & really wanted him at ISU.

Maybe create a few positions on “staff” for the athletes parents. It’s worked in the past
So you guys get a lot of studs but we get one and you still have to come here and piss and moan about it?
