Rumors that he has/is interviewing at OU, along with Rob Koll from Stanford and Damion Hahn from South Dakota State. Selfishly it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world if SDSU wasn't so strong, they've done a nice job with Iowa HS kids that could've been Cyclones. But I do also kindof think it would be a bad thing for wrestling, its good for the big 12 and for wrestling when teams like SDSU and UNI are strong with great coaches like Schwab and Hahn.
Iowa kids no longer have much room on the hawks roster, less and less on the cyclones roster, and some space on the UNI roster. I think it’s great for the state when they have other options and are getting looked at from programs outside our state. Had SDSU not come calling Sloan was going to end up at Coe. Great for the state of Iowa that kid ends up going D1.

Do we know if they will stay in the Big12 for wrestling yet ?

I think now that tensions/emotions (about leaving the Big 12) have simmered down, it seems silly to not accept them as an affiliate. If we kicked them out permanently we'd still need to add another program to keep the AQ status.

That program is a mess. Lou is an example of a guy who should be a career assistant and not ever a head coach. Big 12 tournament showed that. They ran Cody off because he purged the program of the bad actors and they haven't recovered yet.

If they can land Koll, he will be a home run there.
The PAC12 must really suck if Koll is already considering leaving. Storniolo just makes too much sense at this point but Koll is really interesting.

supposedly the reason he left Cornell was because of the way Ivy League and Cornell handled Covid. Don’t imagine the socio-politics are much better in Palo Alto, although I don’t know how he wouldn’t know that before taking the job at Stanford

At this point, we have ALL the leverage. Kick them out for 3-5 years. Then see if they’ve got their sh*t together and let them back in ONLY if they play by our rules.

And any pigtail match they get we have the option to steal from them for the next 10 years.

Have to think NW’s coach is getting hired somewhere. Edit: maybe not with Davison heading to Michigan.

Cael must have liked what he saw when Nagao wrestled RBY.

The rich get richer.
Can Swiderski get on the phone with Davis and get him flipped. No sense sitting behind Nagao getting recruited over must suck

Would make sense if he is going to grad school, tbh

Didn’t know Michigan had such deep pockets but it appears they do
Mark Consuelos And Kelly Ripa’s son on the team helps.. I’m sure they’ve donated a pretty penny.

Not exactly sure.
Um. Yeah. UNI thought it was a done deal, he'd told Schwab that he was coming.

He also transferred from Columbus to Waterloo East a couple weeks ago. There's something going on there.
His dad taught and coached at Columbus. Maybe he is teaching at a different school? Does East have a wrestling team? Maybe he goes to Sebolt and TJ usually wants his better wrestlers to get out of 1A schools.

His dad is a study hall monitor at East now and, yes, East does have a wrestling program. It doesn't have anywhere near the quality in that room that Columbus does but he gets his work outside the school program obviously.

Columbus really built themselves up over the last few years. I remember my son wrestling in a tournament that WC was in about 6-7 years ago and WC was basically able to go home by the consolation quarterfinals in a 16 man bracket with only 10-11 in it because they were all knocked out by then.

His dad has been coaching there at Columbus, right?
