In light of Tyler Sash's passing, I thought I would mix things up a little bit today. Which Former Hawkeye have you always respected, whether on the Field or Off of it? I was always a fan of Fred Russell. For being a little dude he could always motor it up and down the field with the best of them.

Matt Gatens, mainly because I played against him in high school and he didn't leave a really crappy team when he could have.

I always liked Bob Sanders, what a stud. I also like Mary Ferentz, she seems pretty cool.

My dad was always a big fan of Chad Greenway. Grew up on a farm and couldn't go to practice until his chores were done.

I also remember after the 2005 Iowa game Iowa was still ranked ahead of ISU in the polls (I think it was one spot, but still). Greenway said something along the lines of "there's no way that should be. They kicked our butts."

Jess Settles. The guy could just play, and then play some more, and then play even more, and then come back again and play some more. A 27 year old SR is dedication man. Dedication.

Hawkeye Pierce beats out Hawkeye from the Leatherstocking Tales, who was a bit of a racist.

Of those at AIB-Iowa City, Dr. Tom Davis and Dr. James Van Allen.

Tough question because honestly there are so many to respect. I have a ton of respect for their players and coaches. I have zero respect for quite a few of their fans.

Tim Dwight. I know he wasn't the nicest guy, but growing up in Eastern Iowa, we played City High every year. I saw that kid do some things on the field that blew my mind. He personally 50 pointed our football team one game.
