It's Hunter Dekkers time. Joel Lanning frame with a Jacob Park arm. I like that combination and he has shown us he can play.
Who was K-States O-coordinator when Colin Klein was the QB? Can we get that person?

edit: looked it up they had co-offensive coordinators. Dana Dimel is now the HC at UTEP, and the other guy might be retired.

The would be a guy from Iowa named Del Miller. He is indeed retired

Its time for a new chapter, agreed.... we just saw a team that had a lot of players comes back for an extra year and... went thru some up and downs so to speak.

Over-staying is a thing. IDK if that was a problem with this group,, if part of the process got stale at times because it was such a veteran group, but it would not be the first time in the history of sports that a veteran laden team struggled with the minnor detailed approach . Not a great comparsion but its also similar how veteran pro athletes feel towards spring training or pre-season NFL games.

The time is to move forward..... because honestly, what's the point of coming back? Sure, you love the football team and everything and that's fair and well enough but other than that.... its a team I think that will go bowling next season and all that but I'm not thinking we're league title contenders... maybe we will be but as of now I thnk there's too much unknown to go there. So other than enjoying the collegiate experience and Iowa State being awesome and etc...

I don't see a movation on either side really. Realistically everything has been achieved that you are going to achieve. A lot of these guys came back for a chance at a conference title. Sadly that obviously didn't work out but they did get a winning season and bowl bid and that shouldn't be ignored.

But its time. the more people and not just brock but the more and more we get people coming back it begins to feel like a relationship that ran its course. Over-staying is a thing. And not just for us but for programs across the country, all of them to some degree are going to wrestle with this. Its part of why CMC said its a more challenging time now to coach than ever before because you have players with extended elgibility, younger players who in a immediate gratification society might get tired of waiting and puts coaches and programs in an awkward situation.

It's time for everyone to appreciate the past - well, actually the present for one more game - and then to aprpeciate the past, be happy that it happened, and move on to new opportunities. Because the last thing you want is a situation where a player stays and stays and then ends on a negative note.... not a great example but look at pro athletes who don't retire and try to keep going and how painful it can be for those fanbases . Not saying obviously its appples to apples but lets say hypothetically he came back, the youth played like the youth we go 4-8 and he has 9 TD's and 14 INT's. That's not a great ending. Going out this year is a much more, maybe not story book, but much better ending for him as well as every other senior with a chance to go 8-5, win another bowl and continue building on the foundation and being sent off on a high note .

In that regard I hope all the seniors choose to depart. I know getting Petersen back at DE would be huge but even there... for me at least, and I'm sure I will get killed for it but its my honest answer, I'm ready and excited for the next chapter. Through the bumps and bruises, heartaches and success I'm ready to embrace the next generation of players just like this one and will be looking forward to an amazing group of young men one last time and then will focus on the next generation of players who will get cheered and critiqued and priase etc. But that's my not quite so short two cents.

Well said. There is a time to move on. I'm looking at you, Jay Bowe.

Honestly I think that was some of the problem this year. They all still are bought in to the process but I think to an extent the discipline with it was lacking this year.

Even if Brock did come back (he won't), there's a good chance Dekkers would win the job anyway. It's time to let him go. He's the most decorated Cyclone in history, and it's time for him to start a new chapter.
Lol no. IF Brock were to come back (he's not), he's guaranteed the starting spot. It's dumb to think otherwise. That's like saying if Tom Brady were to go back to New England, Mac Jones should still be the starter.

while I have zero doubt that you are correct that Brock would start - two things - I'd think A) there's a real chance Dekkers would potentially leave because essentially he'd have sat for three years and if you're a compeititor, that's hard for most kids to do in todays world

and two - can we not make Tom Brady comparisons? Brock has done plenty of amazing and good things here but lets not compare him to aruguably the greatest team positional player - not greatest individual talent - but greatest at his position arguably ever.

Because for all but about 4-5 NFL franchises, maybe a few more - Tom Brady makes their starter sit on the bench even at this stage.

Saw a listing of draft ratings for QBs. There We’re 13 shown and Purdy was not among them.
I wouldn't trust those. Do I think he'll be a high pick? No. Would I be surprised if he wasn't drafted? Yes. But it all comes down to what teams are looking for and whose available and etc... all it takes is one team and I think there is at least one team that will take a look at him in mid round maybe late mid rounds. But we shall see.

Yeah Hunter would definitely be gone. He's bought into the program but he wants to play and knows he's good enough.

Secondly, I wasn't comparing Brock to Tom. I was just using an analogy.

I'd love another year of Brock, but it is time to follow the NFL version of Brock, whether he ever plays a meaningful snap or not.
