I can understand this. I'd say this "wreaked of desperation" if it included multiple conference games.

That's also fair, but the Cy-Hawk game is at least comparable to a conference game for both teams. Neither is going to compete for a conference/division title, so every game on the schedule serves as little more than an opportunity to win bragging rights. I'd imagine you guys would prefer to have bragging rights over Iowa fans this fall than over KU fans.

In all honesty, losing to KU this last year hurt more than any Iowa loss has ever hurt.

There's a difference between wanting bragging rights and not wanting to get embarrassed. Beating KU probably doesn't do a whole lot for the fanbase's morale at all, but losing to KU hurts for sure.

I lived in Lawrence at the time, and never really had to deal with Iowa fans. If ISU and KU keep competing back-and-forth in basketball, the hatred could even spill over into football.

(Usually football hatred spills over to basketball... weird to see in reverse)

And this is why Iowa is little brother now. Please read perks post for evidence. My goodness you guys are peeing your pants you are so worried about isu's additions and the enrollment advantage over iowa.

Keep it coming little brother. I'll pat you on the head a few times and let you feel good until we beat you down again. :)

Much better than lagging ticket sales and lower attendance like a team to the east of us is experiencing.

Increasing attendance and a newly expanded bowled in stadium are good things.

Explain to me why you are on Cyclone Fanatic..........Mr. Troll. You smell like Hawkeye stench.

Your record attendance is to attend the amusement park, not to see the show. Congratulations that you'll have excitement for the first few games, not to mention they're going to be much of your premium tickets. Hopefully you can win a few games to keep people coming back after the initial "OMG THIS FEELS LIKE A DIVISION ONE STADIUM!!@@" feeling wears off

From what I could tell, the fans in Lawrence and Topeka cared, and thats generally who is actually at the games right now. The fans from KC/Wichita/Western KS only care when they are good. Those fans are a lot more likely to "speak with their wallet" at displeasure because they are further from Lawrence and its tougher to get to the games.

Actually, I paid about the same (and maybe exactly the same) in Rhode Island and Pennsylania (by Philly) as I do here.

I meant just east of here. Like along the I-80 corridor between Altoona and West Branch. And Cedar Falls to Mount Pleasant. Kinda in that area. It's a bubble of high gas prices and busy Saturdays that occurs nowhere else in the nation. An anomaly.

Prefer to wait and see how the season plays out before speculation on hiring coaches.

Can you please give us an idea of what excuse you'll have when things go south? Just a little hint? Maybe a game of hot or cold...up to you.

Just deflection to something related to Iowa.

I legitimately think the reason ISU has such low expectations is because the school down the road isn't exactly a model to look after either. Expectations at Texas A&M are through the roof, simply because UT won National Championships down the road. Maybe we should stop thinking about the Hawkeyes and focus on our own league. Then again, A&M should do that too.

Texas A&M also has the benefit of, you know, actually having been good at some point in recent memory.
