You might be able to still see it via video chat or telephonically even if she moved. Might not be what you’re looking for but if you had a great connection it could be worth exploring. Insurance should cover it the same way as in person unless she changed what panels she’s on.

if she's out of state that could pose a problem

Dismissals happen every day, and it's not that big of a deal. Usually what it means is that the investigation lead to some kind of new information that exonerates the original accused, or some kind of police error was uncovered in the process.

Neither of these things is egg on the DA's face to people who understand the process.

There is almost always continued investigation after charges are originally filed, and if the DA can see that the charge isn't going to hold up in court, they're often better off dismissing it, than trying a case they know they will lose.

I would agree dismissals happen for various reasons. But that is not the point.

I speak of a dismissal via a judge where a DA is trying their hardest to get any charge to stick to an individual after their case falls apart per-trial. Charging a DUI for excessive coffee consumption after all other tests come back clean, is the poster child example for this.

Can we start a Gorm ignorance of the criminal justice system thread so as not to encumber this thread with it? I'll happily particpate there, Gormie. I got sucked in yesterday, but it really has nothing to do with this thread.

Go for it. :)

Yes, that specific example would be pretty embarrassing for the DA. The vast majority of dismissals are voluntary ones because the DA knows better than to continue with a **** case.

This is so wrong in so many ways. Where's your law degree from Gorm? Where have you practiced law Gorm? How have you participated in the prosecution of criminal cases, Gorm?

Ahh yes the old "Hey you didn't go to school on XXXX topic therefore you don't know what you are talking about" trope. :) Good times!

Its currently sunny outside, but feel free not to beleive me. I'm not a certified meteorologist. :p

Day 3 or day 4 however you want to say it.

Stomach is getting a bit better now, don't have as much of the "burning" sensation anymore.
I still find myself getting a 2nd wind towards 9-10 pm, when I would have my nightcap, so I just go to bed an hour later than I used to, which is fine.

I feel pretty mellow, a little tired, due to losing an hour or so of sleep every night, but otherwise pretty good!

Again, I want to reiterate that I wasn't even a binge drinker, I just drank 2-2.5 standard drinks a night for years. Didn't think I had a problem since I wasn't binging and was drinking responsibly.

Just goes to show you the toll it takes on your body.
Congrats man!

The reason it applies here is that you are saying stupid **** that no one with half a brain and knowledge of the process would say. You can choose to proceed as an uninformed idiot . I give up.

As anyone with half a brain would understand. I see Gormie is now trying to agree with you to cover his ignorance.

Lets see.

1. I agree its embarssing for the DA. That was my point.
2. I would also agree that the majority of dismissials are "routine." - That doens't mean that my example didn't happen in the past or will not happen in the future.

So yes, I agree with his comment. Didn't know this was going to further trigger you. Sure doesn't take much does it? :D

embarrasing

dismissals

doesn't

I tried starting a thread to discuss your ignorance of the crminal justice system. It was removed. Start one and I'll respond further. I won't be responding here as it would contribute to a derailment of a good topic.

I see we have entered the "your spelling is wrong" phase of the online argument. You're just full of internet tropes this morning aren't you? :)

Creating threads on a message board to call out another poster on that board? Definitely not triggered.

Stay classy.

Hello all!
So a little backstory, I drank really heavily when I was in college like 5 days a week and since then I really haven't binge drank except maybe 9 times in over 8 years.

Since my crazy undergrad days, I've had about 2 standard drinks per day, averaging for a total of 14 per week, trying to keep in line with what the previous health studies said about drinking in moderation. Mostly because I was using those 2 drinks as a night cap to fall asleep quicker.
I never had a reason to quit because it wasn't hurting my relationships, my job, and my health. (usually the signs that you need to quit drinking)

Well I'm having a lot of digestive problems and decided I would take a month off booze to see if I could reset everything. (since I haven't really given my body a true break since graduating college.)

Anything to look out for or helpful recommendations for anyone else who has done this? 31 years old btw

Thank you
Full disclosure I started having the same digestive problems, strong night cap most nights. 42 years old….2 weeks ago a good friend of mine died at 36 due to a massive heart attack. I decided to go get a full physical and blood work done. Needless to say I found out “mild liver” irritation and they suggested cutting back as much as possible. So I started with one day no drinks, then 2 and 3 and it’s amazing how much better I feel a month in. Still have a drink when I want but if I don’t have a good reason….I just don’t drink. My suggestion is go get a physical, be completely transparent with your doctor and just do your best to limit it

That why I'm thinking I have too.
I have my yearly physical tomorrow (I sort of timed my quitting around it lol)

2 years ago I had a lot of the same symptoms that eventually went away. Ultrasound, Ct scan, blood work, nothing came back bad or abnormal on my liver.

Did you have elevated liver enzymes?

As a heads up, your liver enzymes will most likely still be elevated during this round of blood work. I’m saying this based on the assumption that your previous results probably showed elevated enzymes. If your previous results didn’t ignore that comment.

No, I'm saying I didn't have any elevated liver enzymes on my last 5 blood works.
My ultrasound showed homogeneous echotexture, no lesions, no ascites, main portal vein and perihepatic IVC structures appeared patent with appropriate flow.

CT scan didn't find anything either.

This was about 2 years ago.

I'm wondering if maybe now I may have elevated liver enzymes and asking Chadly if he had elevated enzymes when he was diagnosed with inflamation.

Yeah I had slight elevated, I forgot the term but that’s correct. Not something I want to mess with and with kids 3 and 5, I want to be around as long as possible.

The book I read really talked about how at it's base, it IS a poison to the body. And so even one drink takes a few days to clear all the negative aspects. *And* because it's poison, it's priority over other bodily functions and repair. Not that your body can't multitask but there are finite resources. So if you were drinking every day, that means your body had some amount of poison to clear every day which always took priority. So maybe gut health or brain synapses or whatever else took a back seat. Pardon the pun but it was pretty sobering when I read that. I hope each day continues to feel better for you!

Day 4-5, feeling pretty good today! Stomach/GI tract is starting to settle down.
Have my physical today so I get to do the wonderful fasting for blood work lol.
Just going to post here once a day to hold myself accountable.

It's not consistent but I've had some weird stomach stuff after a couple of nights of drinking and wonder if the booze prompted it.

Most likely, alcohol is an irritant and can cause alcohol related gastritis. Also alcohol withdrawal even after a couple nights of drinking can cause diarrhea, nausea, etc. Or if you have IBS it can activate that as well

Day 5-6, got my blood work back.
Everything perfect. CMP, Lipids, Hemogram, all of it.
So my GI issues are just GI issues, nothing related to the liver.

I’m glad I was diligent in restricting my alcohol use to moderate levels, could have been worse.

I’ll still be doing the month free of alcohol to help change my relationship with it. :otz:
