It depends on who takes over at point. If it's Allen, Scottie has a legit chance of beating out McGee. If McGee takes over at PG, Scottie likely wont beat out Allen for SG.
Babb could be thrown in that as well, they are all three similar.

That may be misrepresenting some people, but I sure remember some who had issue with him period. This is probably more for those people.
Most people who had issues with DG had issues with him as the go-to in the last 30 seconds. Undeniable he was extremely valuable on the whole of the game.
But feel free to misrepresent what people were saying.
Not sure Allen would be a lock to beat out Scotty with his career 43.7% while Allen's BEST season was 39.8%.
Well scotty is the best 3 point shooter on the team. But allen is a better defender, better passer it seems, way more athletic and just as good a shooter and he can get in the lane. So i think he beats out scotty...
Comparing apples to oranges considering Scotty is playing PG and Allen is playing SG. Here read my post, post #72 of this thread, in which I attempt to explain the situation. I agreed that Allen would make a better PG, but that Scotty should also start.
Not really. First off, if scotty continues to start then so be it. He is a great shooter and he has been a great cyclone. But do you honestly not see his flaws? He CAN NOT play D. Thats a fact not my opinion. Allen or mcgee should get the chance to be the point guard. If mcgee proves to be just as good a shooter who plays better defense that has a better handle than scotty then please tell me why mcgee shouldnt start over scotty? Because scotty had to score for ISU's terrible team that went 6 deep last year? And i dont think im bashing scotty at all, i just think it would be better for the team if he was the 6th man. JMO
The more I hear that McGee was recruited as a PG the more I think Fred is an idiot. The first two things we heard about McGee were he's a great scorer and 3 point shooter, and he played the 2 as a freshman and was going to play the 1 in his sophomore year. That is pretty obvious the guy is a combo guard. If he's a combo guard in JUCO, you can guarantee he's a combo guard at the D1 level. Thats why I believe he was recruited to be the combo guard off the bench, and thats what he is. Therefore Fred is not an idiot. So far, Fred doesn't think so. Allen should and probably will be the point once he recovers from his injury. They brought McGee in to be the point, and he has not shown that capability. It's hard to be a great shooter for a terrible team, when they know you are a shooter they stick to you closer. If McGee does prove to be as good of shooter and plays better defense/has better handle, I'm not going to disagree with you. But he has not proven he can play at a position we recruited him for and to this point it is hard to tell who the better player is, though Fred seems to think Scotty is at this point. I understand why one would have these thoughts on Scotty's play this season and I think we can all agree he has not shown he is a PG, but I am not convinced he should be the 6th man.
And let's not forget ... part of this team's problem is poor defense, and few true fast break chances. I'd like to see more pressing, and to me that means more McGee.
Still need a PG, pretty obvious "by committee" isn't going to work --- fortunately there's time to experiment in the non-con. Would personally like to see CA there.
My post asked you to look at last years stats when SC was playing SG. He got ate up at the 2 also. He's flat out not a PG and if he has to shift back he'd have to beat out Mcgee or Allen. Both are better players than Scotty.Unfair comparison of a SG playing PG for the first time and a SG playing SG. Scotty doesn't have to guard their best shooter or ball handler, we have three plus guards on the court at all time, and the help defense was pretty poor all night as well.
It's hard to press when you have no depth. We played three guys 37 minutes or more. It's obvious Fred doesn't trust his bench at all at this point.
Which is strange, considering how he has talked about how much better our depth is supposed to be this year. Booker should be playing more than 8 minutes, and 25 for McGee seems low as well. This really isn't any different from last year...
