Different as in weaker?Shouldn’t go. This omicron seems to be different than the rest. No reason to chance it with a young kid and elderly parents.

Yes and those seem to be more contagious.Different as in weaker?
Well I'm jealous of your negative tests. Son just tested positive today so xmas eve plans cancelled and xmas day with family cancelled.
It doesn't have to be latest virus to be serious. Use to be common sense just to stay put for a few days (work, school, vacation) if having signs of illness because what might be a runny nose to you could be much more to someone else. I fear that people are getting a false sense of security that if it isn't this specific virus........then everything will be okay. Your wife may not be now......but on the way may get sick or when she reaches her destination.
I would guess if the wife is bound and determined to go, I would go also. I am worried about the weather, because we have to drive a fair amount. We may end up missing for the weather, but people and covid are a worry also, and I worry about my mother who is going to be hosting a crew. Not sure that is a great idea. As she gets older family things get more and more difficult. We missed thanksgiving this year. We will see, but we never get there until the week after Christmas.I'm feeling conflicted.
Sounds like the mono I had this year. That sucked.I think I caught whatever that was that swept through in Dec '19/Jan/Feb. '20 from my aunt who had just some sniffles.
Basically two weeks of terrible dry cough, double ear infection, fever coming and going, the works. But nobody I was around for multiple days had anything.
5 times in 15 months doesn't seem bad considering 12 hours away. Just my opinion.Haven’t seen them since summer. They have only seen daughter 5 times in 15 months.
Sort of unrelated, but I'm curious what precautions everyone is taking now. For the first time since this whole thing has started I'm regularly in large groups inside---I've been going to the basketball games in Hilton. Very few are wearing masks in there and I doubt that is going to change. I'm vaccinated and boosted and will happily take whatever the next booster is when they tell us to, so I'm not worried for myself especially, but I don't want to spread it unknowingly to others.
I haven't had so much as the sniffles since this whole thing started two years ago so I haven't gone to the doctor to be tested once. I have taken 3 at home tests since August when I was going to see someone who was higher risk. All negative.
I think I'm leaning towards taking at home tests every week at least while I am going to Hilton this winter. I know the at home tests have slightly higher likelihood of false negative results for those with no symptoms, but as long as I don't have symptoms, I don't think it is necessary to get a regular test. But I'm not sure.
