College officiating:

Player drives to lane - put whistle in mouth anticipating a foul. He missed - blow whistle.

Get booed and chewed by coach.

Call reach in foul on other team to make up for it.

You forgot the in between part where you have to look up at the scoreboard and make sure the makeup foul will work towards making the foul count even because everybody knows, that's the #1 factor in determining if the game was called fairly.

I think that's the thing that drives me nuts the most. You know without a doubt when the ticky-tack hand check fouls are coming: foul count is way uneven, try to wait until a "non-star" player is guarding the ball, TWEET!

I think you will find a lot less complaining about officiating the day they start becoming accountable for their poor calls. Every employee in American has to answer for their errors to the person they affected by their errors. Officials run out of the building and on to their next victim. Every game officials should have to sit and answer questions about their calls to the local media of each team. Then there would be less complaining.

But they just don't have the time or get paid well enough for that...

I cannot be the only one who is tired of all these Cyclone fans constantly blaming the officiating after each game. It is so annoying to me, it makes us seem like Hawk fans. Its a bad habit and it needs to stop. The last few times ive left Hilton ive overheard it.

You complaining about complaining makes you...

The crowd getting on the officials is part of the advantage that we have at Hilton. Don't stop it because of people like the OP who don't want ISU to win.

So you are saying that he randomly tried to hand you a whistle? That's actually very strange behavior.
It was at a junior high game, and I think he was just joking that he was tired of reffing. He is a local guy even though I don't know him, he apparently is a good friend of a good friend of mine. It kind of shocked me, probably because it is so uncomfortable for me to go to games here, because I yell and cheer and groan at the refs, hopefully to give us a home court advantage. People constantly get on your case if you do that here, so I have had to learn to shut up. It is really weird considering where I came from.

If you can blame the refs for a loss, then you haven't played well enough to make the zebras irrelevant. That being said, I have not see anywhere near as many Cyclone fans complain about refs in a loss as I see fans of that other school complain. In their defense though, there is a well documented, wide reaching officiating conspiracy going all the way to the top that is leveled against them, keeping them from national dominance.

I don't like it when I get mad about referees, but it's kind of hard to just stop.

Whining about ISU refs isn't nearly as embarrassing as some of the whining I see and hear in rec league every week!

I was watching the last 10 minutes of the Kansas game, and I told everyone that I wasn't going to get emotional no matter what happened. I actually kept my promise, maybe the first time I had made such a promise, and the first time I kept it.

I get more upset at the slow starts, trigger happy offensive play, bad fundamental rebounding, and leaky defense.

If your okay watching our coach and officials use Iowa State as a ******* post, then fine. Some of us are not. I don't think anyone really blames the officials for the losses, but it does upset us to see inconsistent officiating out there. We get upset when the other team can do stuff our guys can't get away with.

Nobody blamed the officiating after the last game. Everyone knows the three turnovers at the end killed us. Pointing out that the intentional foul call was a ****** call is not blaming the loss on the refs.

We've played KU twice in the "last few games". Fans like you enable their referee bias to continue.

The nonstop ******** of the officiating is right up there with the nonstop booing at home games. Both need to end and both are very embarrassing for the fan base, especially the booing. Just makes everyone seem like uneducated jackasses.

My opinion on refs has been they are almost always bad bc its an almost impossible task they are asked to do. No point in dwelling on it as it will never change.

I agree, but why not make them full-time, pay them more, and make the whole thing more transparent? It's not like there's a lack of $$ in big-time college athletics?

Not only is it annoying, but it is 10 times more annoying when it happens when we had no chance to win the game anyway.

Yelling at the refs is kind of cathartic for me. Kind of like breaking couches.

Complaining about complaining. How original!
