I disagree. He's "good" down the stretch. He's not "phenomenal" down the stretch yet, but that's not the word you used. You used "good". Hence, you are incorrect.

That is strictly opinion my friend. I would say he is average. He has struggled. Example would be at Okie State for two years in a row.

Was i freaking out? I said why we lost the game. I didn't say fire fred. He is a good coach just not good done the stretch. yet.

You said, "that was terrible late game coaching down the stretch."

Seems a little extreme. At the end of the night we were down 7 to 5 points. You get it to your shooters. Scott has been on a roll for the last three games. Royce is not going to get you back into it. There defense was getting too tight down low.

Now you are saying he is not good yet. Sounds like you are back pedaling a little.

1 lose and people lose their freaking minds!

I love how if you "accept" losing then you are the problem. Wow, you accept losing!? You must be the problem because losing is NOT acceptable!

I say, yes, losing is acceptable sometimes. WHy? Because if it wasn't people wouldn't be fans. You can't lose your god damn mind every time you lose, especially against solid opponents. Want to know when it is ok to freak? Write down you "expectations" before the season and stick with them. Mine? Make the tourney. I think we'd all take that prior to the start of the season. We are ABOVE that now so no, I refuse to bash on our team or coach for a well played game outside of 10 minutes.

Scotty shouldn't have the authority to dribble penetrate as much as he did in the last 10 minutes. That's my one and only complaint. That's not his game at all and more negative comes from it than positive. #shrug

Did you watch the K-State game? #shortmemory

We should have gone to Royce more between the 7-4 minute mark. But inside 4 minutes, they were going to hack him. I can see why we stopped pounding it under 4 minutes.

This is a place to vent, not to cry. He makes some good points though. Can’t argue about the late game coaching. At least this thread wasn’t called Fire Fred

I think the problem the other 3 pages show is he didn't make good points. He takes up an issue with the "Cyclone fanbase" by saying the problem with all of us is we just accept the loss, and shouldn't be upset.

That's kind of annoying. Don't you think?

No no no. You're DOING IT ALL WRONG. This is how you behave on your first day in prison, not within your first 150 posts on CF. Picking a fight with the "toughest guy in the yard" doesn't impress people as much on a sports message board as it does in a correctional facility, or so I've been told.

You see, the trick to surviving CF is to kick someone's ***, or become someone's *****.

Conjugal visits? You'll have to talk to Clones21's mom.

No, Mizzou just buckled down on D. Give them credit, they are very good. Not every game can be explained by coaching. We just aren't athletic enough in the backcourt to match up with a team like Mizzou at this point. Mizzou is probably the best example of how not having a PG can be a problem.
I agree. Watching Mo play K State I worried about the pressure those guards would put on our perimeter guys.

No, he's not. He did do a great job of calling some set plays in Manhattan, I'll give him props for that. But our complete breakdown of defensive philosophy, poor use of timeouts, and at times a failure to keep players accountable for repeated mistakes can't be ignored. It's becoming obvious Fred done a great job preparing for games as the last 2 first half periods (on the road) demonstrate that. I'm not even getting at losing or winning games, rather how we do so. I don't know how any fan CANNOT find it disconcerting that we continue to breakdown defensively in the 2nd half. It's not just one player, it's the entire team. That is on the coach.

Overall I think Fred has done a good job, and I'm becoming increasingly impressed with our preparation and first half execution, but he needs to be more vocal in the 2nd half. Sometimes I feel like I'm watching Steve Fisher out there (who I think is too hands off in games as well). IMO that's not a good thing.

Think that was terrible late game coaching down the stretch. Last three minutes of the game we did not execute one set play. Think Fred would have called a time out. We played hard, but those types of losses really make the fans mad. Scott the senior played like a freshman in the second half, and we went away from Royce and its not like there defense was that great. This is why Haith is the coach of the year in the Big 12, not Fred.

So you "expected" us to win at OSU both this year & last year? With a first year coach with a rag-tag lineup? And this year, with it being a "letdown game"? Holy crap. If we don't make it to the Elite 8 next year, I'm going to stay at least 1,000 yards away from any water towers in your neighborhood, amigo.

You do realize he is basically the 2nd best 3-point shoot in ISU history, right? You strike me as the "If we don't win every game, we blow" kind of person, which are usually very pleasant to be around...

Yes!!! when it was working. Scotty had like three attempts at that for this game and sucked. At some point as a leader you should say, Hey i haven't gotten any calls and haven't made a bucket on my driving, maybe I should switch it up.

Scotty had 2 critical turnovers late in that game. Both resulting in a fast break layup.

He was having a great shooting performance that day so they let him have more freedom. I'm fine with that when he's hot. Sometimes you gotta ride your hot hand. Tonight he was off his game, yet he continued to force the drive. I just fail to understand how that's our best option on offense. It simply can't be. It's not something I'm concerned about, I'm just curious as to why Fred seems OK with it for such long periods of time. Scotty is great off the ball.

The Scotty criticism is ridiculous. Dude practically won the last two games for us. When he has a cold night he is "forcing the issue." He was hot coming into tonight, I'm glad he forced the issue. As a scorer you can't fold it in and quit shooting because you are cold. You shoot your way out of a slump.

I think Reggie Miller said something along the lines of "A great shooter has a short memory."

Really hope your trolling. The team loaded with seniors won on senior night (the last game they will play at home ever), I wasn't surprised at all to see them make some big plays at the end of it, we made some big shots at the end too just a little too little too late.

Again its not about what I expected. I didn't think we would win tonight either. I'm saying we haven't played that well late in games because of the poor play calling and execution.
