Anyone else hearing that JP has already decided Prohm is coming back?

Glad to see the trolls are out in full force after yesterday.

I think the one posted that bit about CMC and Prohm being friends and leaving together, then created another new account to pile on.

Commendable.

You think Campbell is that emotionally dependent on Pollard? I don't. He's an adult man, not some little kid.

Campbell has famously signed a contract that substantially reduces his buyout if Pollard is not the AD at Iowa State.

I think Campbell likes working with Pollard, who leaves him alone and doesn't make him do things that he considers dumb.

I think it is in Iowa State's best interest to make sure Campbell is VERY HAPPY to be here and I think Pollard plays a big part in that.

I can't believe we have fans that don't ******* understand that.

He may be fine with another AD, but he definitely has an out if they don’t get along.

There’s also a clause in the new contract that says the buyouts decrease by 50 percent if Jamie Pollard is no longer Iowa State's athletic director.

This is reason enough to keep Prohm another year in my opinion if true. I'lll gladly take a crap bball team for football to stay relevant/getting into big 12 championships. Football just means more to more people.

That's a big "No" from me.

Look, I love having a good football program. I lived in Ames in the '80's and early '90's when ISU football was a laughingstock, and I do not want to go back to those days. But I grew up, as many others did, in the era of Johnny Orr, Hilton Magic, and seeing ISU basketball become a nationally known and respected program. I emphatically am not okay with Cyclone basketball being a "crap" program.

This idea that we cannot have both programs be good simultaneously is really just very silly, and is completely detached from reality. ISU FB made the Alamo Bowl in the same time frame as the basketball team won the Big 12 Tournament and made the NCAA's.

I have no sources or inside info but if Prohm is fired ,I hope him and Campbell are not real close friends. Contracts can be bought out both ways. Campbell is a sought after coach.

wait, what? First you are worried about keeping Hunter, now you think Campbell’s going to be mad at JP for canning a 2-22 basketball coach?

I guess that is emblematic of how far one must use their imagination to come up with reasons to keep Prohm.

Only if you think it’s certain Jamie would otherwise fire you and you want to be here next season. These conversations started well before he went 0-18 , so as I’ve said, it’ll be interesting to see if Prohm failed himself into more leverage.

Todd is the exception, he wasn’t a recruiter, and was largely self-imposed. John couldn’t coach just anywhere. Meanwhile an assistant with multiple NCAA tournaments as a HC and a player like Hunter will get more offers, like a few hundred thousand. That’s assuming he even wants to coach next year. He may like the thought of getting paid to be a dad.

I promise you that Prohm doesn't want to leave Ames or be an assistant somewhere else. Doesn't mean that he wouldn't as in the end coaches want to coach, but he'll sit and regroup and exhaust all HC opportunities before settling for an assistant gig. As for Hunter, if you believe he's going to follow Prohm somewhere and improve Prohm's employment prospects, you're delusional. It's not happening. Hunter is either coming to Ames to play for the new coach or will go play for someone else.

If we're going to throw out outlandish possibilities, I'm going to say Hunter committed to us because he knew it was TJ he'd be playing for and not Prohm. I mean really...there's the Wisconsin connection. How could it be anything else?

There. See how easy that is?

a young, up and coming coach who’s already working with NBA talent. Sounds like more of a home Run hire than old man Beilein who’s got one foot in the ground

whose proven more when it comes to coaching at the college ranks?

belien or your bff grant?

Seem to remember Campbell saying that “******** programs care about 6 wins”. Wonder what he thinks about a two win program?

Oh please. Matt Campbell's emotional mind set is not that fragile. He's not made of glass. I'm sure he'd be fine working under many supportive AD's not named Pollard.
This mindset out there worrying if the coach is "happy" every single day is juvenile.

I'm sure he would be. But why mess with it? He obviously likes working with Pollard.

It appears that we finally having a ******* coach that likes to be here and is successful. Why we would do anything to discourage that is crazy.

I do agree that the AD-coach relationship is critical - in any sport. But I'm sure Matt Campbell would say a great basketball program is good for football.

For sure. And I think it's dumb to think that Campbell would have an issue with a 2-20 coach getting fired.

But I've seen plenty of posts on here about how if Jamie doesn't fire Prohm he should be gone or if Jamie hires TJ he should be gone or if Jamie doesn't hire TJ he should be gone.

And I think all of that is ******* stupid. I'm VERY against hiring TJ. But if Jamie does, oh well, I think our priority should be football right now. And if Jamie decides not to fire Prohm, I'll be irritated. But I don't think it means we should fire Jamie.
