Re: A&M to SEC talk heating back up

hilarious, how most of the fear mongering is being done by hawk fans. If they understood the politics down in texas they'd know there are slim chances of this ever happening. A&M would become the punching bag for the SEC

Correct, the politics in Texas play a huge role in any discussion that includes realignment talks with the state universities. I believe a network that included the other nine schools would be a nice addition.

Complete silly chatter...pushed by Hawk fans and MP in this state. The politics in the state of Texas would never let A&M and Longhorns be apart.

Matty P marvels at he genius to stir it up!

"I laugh at you Cyclones fans! Bwahahaha!

LOL!

All I did was copy the heading from the article....if your upset, be upset at the author of the article. I'm just posting what I found for god sakes. Calm down.

It was pretty weaksauce you didn't read the article. What do you expect us to say? "Yay oh look another very bright and awesome article about conference realignment. Praise be to the black and gold gods that we were blessed to have this posted here."

Exactly. Mods need to delete this thread, or change the thread title, and then ban the OP. The article indicates nothing concrete about any A&M to SEC talks heating up, and the thread is clearly a trolling attempt by the OP.
Please quit perpetuating the embarrassing image Cyclone Nation already has as being the most sensitive fan base in America. The OP needs to be banned? Really? They're just drawing attention to a B12 article in the national press. Geeeez!!! Unfortunately, there's probably still a lot of speculation out there about the future of the conference as each new TV deal gets done.

Apparently you have the same reading comprehension problems that the OP does. Are you a troll too?

Just FYI, the original thread title has been changed...

But yet these same politicians let Texas have its own network, thumbing their nose at their supposed "partner" A&M? That doesn't add up.

National press? Really? Because it looks a lot more like internet speculation to me.

Re: A&M to SEC talk heating back up

The author of the article didn't start a thread on CF with a provocative thread title completely unrelated to the content of his post, you did.

Either you were trolling, or simply too ignorant to realize that the article you linked in your post in no way supported the title of your thread. Fail either way...

"completely unrelated to the content of his post" - are you freaking kidding me? The content of my post was basically saying "look I found this article that you may be interested in reading" - and I even went out of my way to apologize in case it had already been posted.

Alright, by the order of jbhtexas, it is no longer allowed to use the title of an article as the thread title when you are linking the said article.

Geez, lighten up dude. I apologize I wasn't inventive enough with my thread title....who would ever think that using the title of a linked article would offend someone so much.

Thought this article would interest some here, and I used the title of the article in order to give the posters here an idea of the content...I wasn't trying to be subliminal for crying out loud. You're reading way too much into this.

aTm can start their own network correct?

If you're intimating that UT & aTm aren't joined at the hip, it's my sense you're right. I would like to see some evidence of this myself NOT related to the formation of the B12. CFB now is a lot different than it was back in 1996.

I cannot speak to the writings of JBH but I could go start a blog and type some random stuff about the hawkeyes and go post it over on your board because that would hold about as much water as what the article you posted does. Did you even read it before posting it?

Could you point out in your linked article where there was any discussion about talks between the SEC and aTm "heating up"? Perhaps I just missed it.

They are not partners.

Big difference between stopping the longhorns have television deal vs letting Aggies out of conference.

Texas A&M isn't going anywhere. It is really that simple. Why would they want to lose tv revenue, play a tougher conference schedule and then have to play Texas for a non-conference game, etc....

It makes no sense for them to move.

Are Texas politicians standing in the way of A&M getting their own network?

The formation of the Longhorn network will have a damaging effect on any similar A&M venture, regarding sponsors, ad revenue, and certainly the contract amount. A&M will not get anywhere near the $$$ on their own that they could have gotten paired up with Texas. Any Texas edict that demands that Texas and Texas A&M be in the same conference ( I don't believe this myth) would also demand that the two enter into the same ESPN contract together, as it affects competitive balance, revenue accumulation, and frankly goodwill between the two schools.
The schools are obviously acting separately, that will apply to future conference affiliation as well.

So in other words, A&M's only solution to the "Texas TV Network" is to join the SEC, take less money, and ultimately open up Texas recruits to the Floridas, and Alabamas of the SEC?

In other words, they're going to sabotage themselves just to spite their biggest rival? I hope you're not a businessman...

I have no idea what the next Big 12 Network contract amount will be, and neither do you. I imagine it will be much lower now that the Texas deal has been signed, as the collective bargaining power of the rest of the Big 12 has been compromised.
Back to what I responded to: show me one direct quote, from any Texas office holder or university decision-maker, that alludes to this alleged Texas-Texas A&M rule about being in the same conference...

How has the collective bargaining power been compromised when the UT deal only consists of 3rd tier rights and there is legit competition to ESPN for 1st and 2nd tier rights? You have been told this numerous times but either are too dumb to understand it or just being a jerk. Probably a combination of both.
