Our group of 6 hasn't fully decided yet and it may depend on what capacity ends up being. But the 6 of us will likely opt out.
Is there an opt-out deadline?
Is there an opt-out deadline?
It depends on your sources for each, and how many "hops" each has.
Standard radio will be ahead of any video.
If the radio station has their FCC delay activated, you'll probably be close to matching up with OTA/cable. Satellite video may be a little further behind.
Listening via app or online stream will put you behind OTA/cable/satellite, but could get you in line if you're streaming the video also.
As far as video is concerned, that delay can vary widely by network in addition to your viewing method. There's the FCC delay, number of satellites involved, whether the production is remote or on-site, etc.
Example: For some basketball games on ESPN networks, the delay can be up to 15-18 seconds once all of the above is factored in. Nothing like seeing live stats update with a basket before the ball is even across half-court on the screen.
I can see this as a big factor of why people would opt out. 95% of people don’t go up to Ames on game days for just the game. They know it’s an all day or half day affair with the tailgating. Could definitely see people within an hour drive make it, but I can’t see many people driving down from places like Minnesota for just the game, unless they’re that dedicated. Our group of 7 opted out. We were leaning that way and then no tailgating sealed it.
Cheer extra loud to make up for my big mouth being absent...Going. I'll be bathed in sanitizer and wrapped up like a mummy if needed.
It takes a while, but if you have TIVO you can pause, restart until it's synced. Easier with FB than with basketball because the play is so much slower that a few seconds doesn't make a lot of difference.Warning Warning - potential thread derailment approaching
I have tried this but the radio and TV are not in sync.
Isn't he running for Senator from Alabama now?
Others on here have said August 28th.Is there an opt-out deadline?
Has anyone seen an outdoor venue that has had less fans in the stand have a bad outcome. I know there have been few instances. NASCAR has had a couple. I haven’t seen an outbreak related to such an event yet. Just wondering if that is what the AD is looking at. I think 50% capacity is unlikely.
From the sounds of this thread it will be around 10% as it appears 4 out of every 5 posts is/are opting out. :-(
Although I think we'll have to find a replacement for the hillside ticket on the secondary market, as it's my understanding those won't be offered.
They meant no hillside tickets this year. What is your source for there not being tickets available on the secondary market?
From the Quad Cities, will be at every game that I can. Love to tailgate, but love the game more.I can see this as a big factor of why people would opt out. 95% of people don’t go up to Ames on game days for just the game. They know it’s an all day or half day affair with the tailgating. Could definitely see people within an hour drive make it, but I can’t see many people driving down from places like Minnesota for just the game, unless they’re that dedicated.
Starting to sound like they may back off of the 50% per CW.If they allow fans at all, they may be able to go with the 50% plan where you get the full slate of tickets and they assign seats throughout the stadium based on priority points. With all the opt outs, then the stadium is actually only 25% (or less) full.
They meant no hillside tickets this year.
