Just stop. Austin Nichols doesn't make up for losing all the guys ISU loses after this season. Long, McKay, Niang and Nader... If ISU landed this guy and Monte stayed AND ISU signed three other really good players then there probably would still be a drop off.

People have been saying this since Royce's season. We just don't know how it will shake out. Morris is probably at least 50/50 on staying. Him being without Niang could force him to become far more aggressive which might elevate his game.

We have no idea who Prohm will land between now and next year. A lot will depend on finding a transfer and/or a couple of juco's but landing Nicols (totally unlikely anyway), would go a long way to replacing some of what we lose.

What if Burton is a total stud? What if Ernst is better than advertised? What if Noskowiak + Thomas + Cooke next year can be just as good as Naz + Thomas + Cooke this year? What if we landed Arlando Cook and the Greek Freak 2.0 to go along with Nicols?

I know that's a lot of assumptions, but you're making the assumption that we won't land any additional players and our current players won't continue to get better.

Call me crazy but I think Matt Thomas has some great basketball in him as an upperclassman. A Morris, Thomas, Burton (3 seniors) combo could be great. NN and Cooke are solid reserves. Land a couple stud big men and I don't think the drop off would be that bad at all. Nichols would be an enormous pick up (I agree very unlikely).

I'm not exactly sure how we can discuss 'level of drop-off' after this upcoming season, when this season doesn't even start for another 4 months. But whatever, keep on message boarding.

All we need for 2016 is a couple of bigs and perhaps a talented small forward...with 7 schollys I'll bet we get all of that and then some.

There is no chance he comes to Iowa State, move along

Why would that be the case...ISU is one of the 25 best basketball programs in the country.

The kid may well have interests in other regions or particular schools...but unless you know such specifics, you have no idea if he is interested in Iowa State. Nor for that matter do I or anyone on this board at this point...but we do know two things for certain:

1. ISU has a better shot than the vast majority of basketball programs around the country, and that makes this discussion on his intentions well worth having.
2. You have no idea of this kid's intentions nor do you have any knowledge of this kid's interest level in ISU.

From what I'm hearing hear locally its 1. Duke(it came down to duke vs Memphis outta high school)
2. Auburn(Bruce pearl),Vandy(proximity to Memphis),MsState 3.gonzaga and they always say Iowa state is a long shot. But at least there is maybe a chance.

Argue all you want about whether or not each individual on this list is "Blue-Chip". However, I challenge you to name a team who has consistently recruited high-level transfers over the past five years at the same rate as ISU. Show me a team with a better list than this. I didn't even name them all.

Scott Christopherson
Chris Allen
Korie Lucious
Royce White
Chris Babb
Deandre Kane
Deonte Burton
Will Clyburn
Bryce Dejean-Jones
Jameel McKay

Proof is in the puddin, folks. Players see this and it is why we get a look from most quality transfers.

Doesn't Jake Anderson belong on the list?

Jake? I guess you could put him on there. As I said, there are more names. I picked the more highly sought of the group.

Yeah, Jake. For some reason I always remember him as Nick. Not sure why.

Interesting, if our name is involved that's a better sign that I expected. I don't think he goes to Gonzaga with Williams there and Collins coming in next year

I would bet money that he goes to Duke

Going to be a drop off, we are pre-season top 5 in a lot of polls. However if MM stays, Cooke/Thomas @ the 2, Burton @3, then find a couple bigs in Juco land - plus have a solid recuriting class - this can still be a tourney team.

But sustaining what we have this year is not going to happen unless we sign 4 McD's AA's

Link to the preseason polls.. AP poll out yet?
