First, let me say that I thought BDJ posing for that dunk on the fast break was hilarious. But I saw a surprising amount of people commenting on ISU men's basketball FB page that he shouldn't have done it and he needs to cut it out.

Just curious if a lot of people feel this way, because I thought it was harmless.

Sportsmanship was invented by losers.

I'd hope we don't have any players flip off the student section or make inappropriate comments towards cheerleaders. That would be awful.

Roy Williams teams were always flipping off student section. Roy would laugh about it. Most classless coach I've ever seen up close.

This is what happens when you get players from sin city: razzle dazzle dunks abound!
We midwesterners, who never draw attention to ourselves, just have a hard time with it. :jimlad:

It's kind of like a comparison between Terrell Owens and Barry Sanders.

Some people enjoy the flash associated with TO and his unique TD celebrations. Others would rather you just hand the ball to the ref and act like you've been there before and scoring TD's is just part of your job.

I tend to like the Barry Sanders approach better. I still didn't have much of an issue with BDJ's posing as long as he makes the dunk. If he misses one doing that though, I'd expect him to really get an a** chewing.

Not directed at you specifically, but how ironic is it that we have a thread that has almost 150 posts about a made dunk, and no one started a thread about the 2 missed dunks that we had by other players.

I tend to think they were missed because they weren't posing or showboating enough.

Starting this thread currently ranks up there as one of the great regrets of my life. Just wanted to get some other people's thoughts. Was not intending it to be full of people complaining and others complaining about the complainers.

Why do people keep saying stuff like this? I don't see anyone whining. An opinion was asked, people gave theirs. I see no one lambasting him or calling him out for it. There are some people that have said they're not a fan of the over doing it, but I haven't seen one person call him out or whine about it.

If I say I'm not personally a fan of meatloaf, are you going to take it as me calling out your mom and whining because she happens to make a good meatloaf?

The only people I see actually getting offended here are the people for whatever reason getting offended that there are some people that don't care for show boating.

Bryce DeJean-Jones reading this thread: "Geesh, try do do something nice to fire up the sellout crowd that came to see us in an EXHIBITION game and people complain?"

And for those feeling bad for Viterbo, they probably thought those dunks were cool as hell also. I hope he does a couple of these in Iowa City followed by shushing the crowd. I would ******* lose it.

Also, for those of you complaining:

Let's be honest. Rarely does anyone have to shush an Iowa City crowd.
Well, unless they play there, of course.

Plenty of that in the football threads.

Should he have done at it against Viterbo? No. BUT its not like we packed Hilton because we didn't want to see our new horses in the stables...

As far as the future goes, I have no problem with guys that are competitive and get an attitude. That's what happens when tremendous athletes and competitors are facing off. It's what makes the sport good. Taking away the 'fun' would kill all sports. There's a time and a place. Like say he windmill dunked with his tongue out over the top of Seldon. Now that's when you need to pose dunk.

The TO comparison. Laughable.

Only clonegirl would come up with that one.

Quite simply, it was awesome because now I have the perfect screensaver for my computer at work.
