I think its awesome that this is what we find to ***** about now with cyclone basketball. Used to be squeaking it out against these crappy teams, now we rule and win by 50 so we have to find something to complain about. I've seen much worse on a court. I think a 360 or windmill is way more showboaty than what he did.

I thought we wanted NBA type players? Let the guys dunk the ball baby! High flying dunks all year long! Edozie had some big ones last night too. That one hand ally oop throw down was sweet!

I loved it and it was exactly what I wanted to see out of BDJ. I knew he was going to be athletic but he put an exclamation point behind it. Wow. He gonna be good.

First, let me say that I thought BDJ posing for that dunk on the fast break was hilarious. But I saw a surprising amount of people commenting on ISU men's basketball FB page that he shouldn't have done it and he needs to cut it out.

Just curious if a lot of people feel this way, because I thought it was harmless.

It is harmless, these people are fools. Nothing wrong with having fun while playing sports!

I agree with you 100%. But I also understand wanting to make sure your players act in a sportsman-like way, especially against a team like Viterbo. I think some people just misinterpreted what BDJ did as taunting, when I saw it as him introducing himself to Cyclone fans and enjoying his first taste of Hilton.

This has been posted before but I'm putting this up once again to remind people of what BDJ is capable of doing. I started watching and then realized I was 5 minutes into the video.

Fail. 67. Some of us Cyclones who suffered through some dismal seasons want to savor every point, especially when most of them are scored by the full depth of our bench in a Cyclone blowout. Don't take that from us!

Here nor there
I look at it this way: If I was a Viterbo player, how would I have felt about the dunk? Personally, I would have no problem with it. That's as close to big time college basketball as those guys are going to get. It's a game they'll tell their kids about. I doubt any of the V-Hawk players left Hilton with their feelings hurt.

Exactly. That was an exhibition of a team with championship aspirations against a .500 NAIA team in the first public showing of the year. The V-hawks were paid to be participants in Hilton Madness.

Karl Malone used to do it all the time. Jones was just having some fun, and probably wanted to entertain the crowd a little. I mean, a near sellout for an exibition? Give them their money's worth.

It was awesome. As others have said, it was an exhibition. No offense to the V-Hawks, but they probablydon't have a single player that could even walk on at ISU. They knew the drill coming in. ISU were the Globetrotters and they were the Generals.

If a guy can dunk it like he can, why not do it? Just don't miss and it's fine, IMO. Showboating is scoring when it's unnecessary, ie Jeremy Lamb trying to windmill dunk a couple years ago. I would be upset if he tried the reverse dunk and missed.

Just to reiterate how I feel about BDJ..... last night about 10 mins into the game or so I posted on here that I had already felt he was the best basketball player on the entire court and that it wasn't even all that close. And I stand by that statement.

Obviously Niang is our leader and he holds this team together, but BDJ is the most talented guy we have. I haven't seen much of Nader or McKay, so that could change, but I doubt it. He is that good folks.

I think in the end we are going to discover that we got the better one and done player between him and Vaughn. He's better than Kane IMO by quite a bit. Kane was a stud for us and he's as tough as they come, but his game was pretty limited really. BDJ can do it all.

I think the main thing is, if he does his work on the defensive end & is a good teammate, its easy to not worry about having a little fun on a few dunks. If those things are not the case, I'm sure Hoiball would be on his case.
