If this is still a valid question, CJ all day every day.

I like Richardson. But he doesn't appear to have the ability to pull a play out of his rear like Beathard does. ISU has far better WR talent than does Iowa. But Richardson looked lost once Iowa made some changes at half.

Sam cannot handle adversity -- major headcase. He also pre-determines who he is going to throw to pre-snap, which was more than obvious on his INT (his head literally followed Wesley for the entire 3/4 seconds of the play!!). Winning QBs find a way, that is not Sam.

Ricky Stanzi: 56 TDs and 30 INTs
Sam Richardson if he matches last years 18 TDs and 9 INTs: 55 TDs 25 INTs

SR has 4,840 yards, and if he matches last year he will end up with 7,276.

Stanzi finished with 7,377.

And I'd say that odds are pretty damn good that SR has a better season this year than last year.

So would you rather have Stanzi or Beathard?

Stanzi 3 bowl wins in 3 years as starter.
ISU 3 bowl wins in 123 years as a program.

I'll take Stanzi over CJB and pretty much every QB in ISU history.

What are you talking about?

He is talking about how bad Short Bus Richardson is. Compare bowl starts for Richardson and Beathard = same (poor).

This is a tallest midget competition.

I especially liked Sam limping out to start the drive when we were down 7. When did he hurt anything other then his pride previously? We should have let Sam walk when he wanted to, he is gutless.

FWIW, I think Sam is an above average QB. Put him on a team and situations where he does not have to make big plays every series, he would be fine. Tough to succeed with 3rd and long all day and a weak OL and RB corp.
Also wondering why KF did not start this guy last year. Glad he didn't.

I disagree. He has moments but the majority of the time he accomplishes nothing. I was a Sam supporter but this year he has lost my support. The offense should be rolling this year. They are as bad as last year.

Always makes me chuckle how hawk fan hyperbole convinces some Cyclone fans that the hawk player who has proven absolutely nothing is great. (Same fans that said we couldnt count on jc players..oops)

Beathard has looked bad more than he has looked good and the good was against a jh team. Tennessee anyone?

Beathard might end up being a good quarterback but he has shown absolutely nothing comparable to the numbers richardson has put up.

Until proven otherwise .... Richardson by a mile.

Did you see the second half today? SR is not a P5 QB.

Also, Beathard was very good today. I hated it, but he was very good. His TD throws were on the money, and the clutch (if ugly) runs were huge.

Greg Mabin and Desmond King are both NFL Corners who play press coverage compared to 2010. I'd take Taylor and Lomax over Greenwood and Sash too. Not to mention we have Fleming in our Nickel and Dime packages who was one of the fastest players in his entire recruiting class.

Wut? King is good but that secondary made some very fundamental errors in the first half

Both are extraordinarily average. Iowa qb can get away with it with their schedule, we need a guy that can sling it. We bring a knife to a gun fight every week.

Seeing some chatter on Hawkeye Lounge and I thought this would be a good discussion from both sides. Who would you rather have: Beathard or Richardson?

Iowa fans are super confident in Beathard despite him throwing more than 10 passes in a game three times.

17/37 245 1 TD 1 INT @ Purdue W 24-10
13/23 145 2 TD 1 INT vs. TENN L 45-28
15/24 211 1 TD 0 INT vs. Ill St. W 31-14

He has a big arm, but he has looked erratic at times. Why are Iowa fans so confident he's better than Richardson? Kinda bizarre.
Why would you exclude his stats from today against Iowa State?
