The real question here is how is Matt Damon going to get in this movie...lol.

I think he'll probably do fine, I just don't understand why Affleck was even interested. Daredevil is pretty firmly in his downhill slide period as an actor. The guy worked so hard to rebuild his career and is now seen seriously as an actor again and respected as a director. I don't have a problem with him as Batman, I'd just rather he went to work on his next Argo instead. Warner Bros. must have really backed up the Brinks truck or promised to pick up some of his smaller future projects for him to agree to do this.

Well that's a shame. I'm honestly sick of super hero movies... The Dark Knight and Iron Man and maybe The Avengers were all pretty fun, and I would rate the first two as legitimately good (if not great) films. A bit too much of this now, and constantly rebooting and recasting the same characters is just ridiculous. Rises was clearly off the rails, and I doubt the Marvel stuff can do much better, and let's not even talk about Man of Steel...

If anything, I feel the biggest loss of something like this is the opportunity cost of a talent like Ben Affleck's time. I loved Argo--not the most accurate, but accurate in spirit, and taunt the whole way through. He needs to stick to acting and directing and writing non-conventional screenplays, not hamming it up in lame popcorn films meant for foreigners who don't understand English but do understand the universal language of CGI explosions.

He's a good actor. Just needs to bulk up and work on his bat voice.

I need to see Argo, but I really don't think BA is much of an actor. His best work IMO has been on SNL when he hosts.

I just remember how much outrage there was about Bale when they made that announcement initially. I think that turned out pretty well.

But then again that was Nolan, so I guess we'll see. I know I'll still go see it.

Bale has the onscreen persona of gritty, dark, and troubled. It worked.

Ben does not. It wont.

I dunno, I think he'll probably be pretty good. I wasn't sure about Bale or especially Ledger at first so I'm being optimistic here. I don't think Daredevil was really his fault, actually the acting in general wasn't bad, the writing and directing was awful though. Anyway, here's 6 reasons not to freak out:

Ben Affleck Is Batman. Six Reasons Not to Freak Out | Comicbook.com

The Ledger comment is a good thought, he was a WTF casting decision that led to probably one the top 3 greatest villains of all time. After my initial WTF reaction, I slowed it down to think maybe he will take it in a different direction. Especially if it will require the older, more mature Batman from Frank Miller's mid 80's stuff. Maybe he will nail it.

I think he'll make a pretty good Bruce Wayne, but I'm very skeptical of how good he'll be as Batman

I think this might work out ok. Affleck would have been an awful choice for Chris Nolan's vision of Batman and Gotham City but with a new director then maybe he's good.

I guess I will wait and see how this turns out, but I think Hugh Jackman (which probably wouldn't happen) or Josh Brolin would have been better
