It would be interesting to see what number would look like if the Big 12 were getting those coveted time slots that the B1G gets.
I also wonder if those average viewership numbers are being skewed by the EPSN+/B12 Network numbers not being included in the averages. That would eliminate our bottom feeder games, while the B10 bottom feeder games on the B10 network would count against them.Somewhat skewed by bottom feeders. When you watch the weekly numbers, the top 4 SEC games can get 4mil+, the B1G, 3 mil+ and then the Big 12 usually tops at 2 mil unless in marquee time slot.
A lot of the bigger conferences suffer in numbers though with games like Northwestern, Indiana, Vandy, etc.
The question is do networks prefer big value games of 4mil or two games of 2mil?
I would agree a lot of the games are boring, but the networks aren't paying out Billions just based on get smooth talked - it's based on hard numbers. When you see the weekly numbers, the SEC and B1G are neck and neck at the top. Yes, the lower games get less viewers, but I'm guessing Tier 3 isn't in this. The B1G is merely a mirage or perception. The viewership numbers are what they are. The B1G is brilliant at negotiating big TV contracts for their inferior product. I will give OSU, Mich their props as they are legit.... the rest of the conference (especially the west) is very dull and unwatchable football. Good cure for insomnia though.
While it would be interesting, the reality is they're going to get fewer going forward so it's meaningless. It would be interesting to see what number would look like if the Big 12 were getting those coveted time slots that the B1G gets.
As you move down the card I'm sure the viewership changes dramatically.
Are the networks paying for the average or the marquee matchups?
They barely get a 1,000 people physically at their games.Pretty much. There is no getting around it, west coast football is dead.
This is a good source. Some interesting numbers from this past week.
Top NFL Game: Bills @ Chiefs 25.4 million
Top CFB Game: Bama @ Tennessee: 11.5 million
Top MLB Playoff Game: Guardians @ Yankees 5.3 million

The time slot and which other games that slot is competing with are more valuable than the teams playing.

The ABC slot is the valuable asset here. Not as much the schools.
The future is split screening ISU Games next to reruns of the Gilmore Girls? No no no that doesn’t matter anymore and we want to be on Netflix and Paramount Plus and Prime because that’s the future guyzzzz!!!!
This is interesting. I do question if this is correct though. The B1G is number 4 (or lower) in viewership numbers? They have some huge fan/alumni bases. I know their Fox Big Noon Kickoff usually gets pretty large numbers (3-4 million+). I suppose the other games and especially those on the Big Ten Network could bring their average down quite a bit I guess.

The ratings for ISU Texas were actually pretty bad, one of the worst ABC ratings for the year.
I don't know man, Lauren Grahm in her prime (and even a bit after it) I always thought was underrated in hotness.I’ll quit football if it comes to that
