First of all yes I did compare Temple with UConn...dude...it can be done with any two schools really. Do you really think the conference cares one bit about whether or not the next school makes the basketball in the Big 12 better? We are the best conference in the country as it is.

The B1G took Rutgers and gets small numbers in the NYC market on game days...Imagine that...Like I said before, I don't like either as an option, but to look past a school like Rutgers is idiotic when looking at programs in the NE.

Rutgers gave the BIG the NJ market..and NYC cable subscribers in areas...people think the negotiation of a conference network is all about fball...it's not..Every big 12 school owns content to most of their non conf bball games and that is worth millions on Tier 3 to a negotiated conference network. While fball is king...don't think that mens bball doesn't play this part because it does. Uconn and temple aren't even close...academically and athletically. Hell the Uconn women's bball program has a bigger following the the Temple Men's team.

Temple won't even be in the discussion at the big 12 meetings if there were even 10 teams discussed.

Nebraska was butt hurt because they were beaten by Texas in the Conference Title game.

Nebraska argued for uneven revenue distribution the entire time they were in the Big 12. And then bolt for the Big Ten and cite one of the reasons for going was equal revenue distribution.

Wonder how Nebraska likes it now where they hardly play any other teams in the other division.

Nebraska now languishes in the land of mediocrity. Hope they enjoy where they are. As time passes on, the memories of being a football power fade more and more.

I agree...I cover Nebraksa in my job and I talk to a lot of huskers fans who hate being in the big ten. They totally lost their recruiting grounds when the moved and will never ever be the Nebraksa of old...ever.

I think Nebraska wasn't going to be the Nebraska of old once they joined the big 12. They lost their ability to use partial qualifiers and having all those extra walk ons.

i enjoy watching Nebraska lose in the big ten.

...so we've found the silver lining to the realignment mess.

Cincinnati should consider merging with Ohio U, then joining. Their new entity could be a natural rival of Ohio State University and worthy of power five status. Market themselves as THE University of Ohio.

Go for it.....we have beat Cinci and OU. Maybe together they would have a shot! :th_Jttesur:It could give us another Big 5 win.

Most everything we've heard from University Presidents over the years has centered around the arguments that academics were a big deal and not something any were willing to compromise. I only made it thru the first 13 pages of this thread, but academics has been absent from the conversation and that's a mistake.

When you put everything into context, Cinci is indeed the most logical choice and also the most
likely one.

We finally get rid of Nebraska so I don't have to hear "Nebbie" nearly as often.

Now we'll get Cincinnati and we'll start hearing "Nati".

Not sure which term us more annoying

Way up there
That was the Big 12's (i.e. Texas) fault for driving them out. For example, taking one of the best rivalries in the country (maybe the best), OU vs. Neb, and changing it to playing just every other year. Ridiculous. It was the conference's marquee game. We would have left too.

Comparing us to Nebraska means nothing, we didn't create the conditions that upset Nebraska, they did. As a school negatively impacted by the rules that Nebraska helped create, we obviously would have left and no one could blame us. Nebraska was responsible for creating the problems that forced them to leave, they were only victims of their own ego and arrogance. When that ego no longer carried any weight, they tucked tail and ran. They have no one to blame but themselves, no one should have any sympathy for the way things went down.

Nebraska started the whole instability thing when they bolted for the Big Ten. When the Big 12 looked like it would implode, then of course we would have taken an offer because it was looking like we would be left out of a Power 5 Conference completely. That is why Colorado bolted for the Pac 12 Conference. They were afraid of being left out. In hindsight I bet they wish they had stayed.

Up until Colorado and Nebraska bolted, Big 12 was fairly stable. I don't think anyone anticipated the raiding that took place in conference expansion.

Actually Missouri started the instability by openly campaigning for the Big 10 when they announced expansion after ND dissed them. Colorado also always wanted to be in the PAC and rumored to leave for a while. PAC jumped in and got them when Big 10 announced expansion.

Nebraska left due to Big 10 focusing on them plus the instability created by Mizzou. I believe they wanted concessions from the Big 12 and Texas/OU and didn't get them, so they bolted for the better deal. I agree, though, that many of the Big 12 problems were also caused by Nebraska (and Texas and OU and TA&M), so I have little sympathy for them.

I've always heard that Nebraska was the biggest trouble maker at the final Big 12 meetings before the breakup. Tom never liked the Big 12 and wanted to bolt.

If academics really mattered Nebraska would not be in the Big 10. Those Presidents are elitists and full of *****.

Tom was the reason. Texas beat Nebraska in a controversial CCG on December 5, 2009. The Big Ten had not even had a meeting considering possible expansion. As soon as the Big Ten announced possible expansion, Tom was looking to bolt.

Have any of these rumors been substantiated?
Well....if you read some of the links to cbs and nbc sports, they name the people and organizations that the b12 has hired to explore expansion. So, IMO, the league is seriously looking into this. Also, I think it is pretty clear that Cincinnati wants in. Other than that, I think it is speculation.

JP had a few interesting comments on the morning Rush today. Can't quote exactly, but he doesn't deny it like he usually does. Hes usually 100% all in on the 10 team league, now his tone is a little different.
