There are multiple players on UNI's roster that I would take over Edozie last year.
FWIW in context to the argument, Fred did offer Jeremy Morgan a scholly back in 2013.

Still don't get why some people are mad about this commitment. He seems like a decent kid. Number 2 recruit in the state per 247.
If it was May 1st and he committed I would be ******. Like why take him with so many other options, blah, blah, blah.
But it's not. It's almost July. Just give the kid a chance. If he doesn't work out, we will all wish him the best when he announces his intent to transfer. But in the meantime, let's just be happy for him and hope for the best

Worst case scenario he's here for a year giving them a scout team front court player before transferring out, with a scholarship that would have very likely gone unfilled.
Best case scenario he develops into a Homan or Vroman level player by 2016/17. (Likely somewhere between the two.)
I fail to see the cause for concern that some people can.

I'm still waiting for the reason why people think it's a bad move? Or is it just the people who don't understand recruiting who is bashing it?
Banking scholarships is idiotic. If you need his scholarship next year or in two years, then you give it to someone else. That's how it works, you over recruit to get better. You have to have enough bodies to fill the roster.
Every team takes on project players, because you can't have 13 starters. We are already stacked, no one was coming in and seeing significant minutes regardless.
Also he would already be with a team if it weren't for his injury anyways. P5? Maybe not, but they were starting to sniff around before he got hurt so maybe.
You know finding diomonds in the rough is pretty common right? Do you guys know what that means? If they were highly regarded from the start then they wouldn't be a diamond in the rough.

Different sport but I remember another Clinton kid we let UNI get and he not only pounded us but will be playing in the NFL this fall.
You should know that small town Iowa towns are recruiting hot beds and every school searches them to bottom.
That settles it then.
But personally I disagree with spending a scholarship for a practice body and I disagree that we will just use him for one year and ship him out if he's not good. I think it's far more likely they don't intend to play him and nothing could make them get rid of him until at least his 3rd year.
And I'm very against just offering whoever Ben Jacobsen offers, I think that is exactly what I want to avoid. A lot of you seem to think otherwise, that's cool.
It's not a big deal. I do understand recruiting, I follow it very closely. I have a different opinion that I think is pretty valid, and I understand that having a different opinion makes a lot of you just assume that I am literally mentally handicapped because your opinions are so infallible.
I'm done arguing. I just think there were better uses for the scholarship going forward.

CFH and TJ were trying to bring him in for a visit prior to fred's surgery. Would you feel better knowing CFH wanted him?

Just looking for clarity (because I doubt this is what you meant but this is how I read the above), is your opinion that the staff just took a kid they don't intend to get any minutes and also plan to keep him for at least three years (2 years, start of 3rd?) if that does end up being the case?
Best high jump mark I see is 6' 2", looking at Jr/Sr years. That's actually poor for a 6' 9" kid. A very good high school jumper can jump his height. An elite high school jumper will go 6" more than their height. I don't see 7" under height as something to get excited about.
Conversely, Wes Greder the walk-on from Gilbert jumping 6' 4" in a 6' 2?" body is more exciting.

No, you don't. Who would you have liked to see them get? They need to replace Williams......I think that is given. If they don't replace him with someone......this team may not reach it's full potential, especially if there are injuries or foul trouble. Still waiting for you in your brilliance to tell us who you think ISU could have gotten.....I mean......you follow recruiting very closely you claim......so give us some available names that would have been better.
