This is horrifying. He seems like such a solid individual.

Will be interesting. I'm in favor of suspending him until/unless charges are dropped, but I won't be surprised if he is still playing this Fall. Just the way of the world.

With a crime this serious, just being charged is grounds for dismissal. Well, unless you're Steve Alford.

Yeah...no.

I'm all for throwing the book at him if he did this, there should be zero tolerance for sexual assault, but the guy deserves to have his side of the story heard too. Not accusing this girl of doing it, but there are a good number of false accusations out there, and the attitude that just being charged should be punishable is part of the problem with our system right now (i would favor a shield law just like we have for victims until the defendant is proven guilty, for just that reason).

I know fred will do the right thing. I think suspension pending legal results would be in order, and then if he's guilty it won't even be in our hands anymore anyways (but if it were, obviously the answer would be getting the boot)

Unless he has been found innocent, I would be hugely disappointed in Fred if this happened.

Can't boot him yet. Not that I'd expect it from Palo (of course, I didn't expect this from him) but if you boot the kid and he ends up innocent you could be facing litigation. We've seen it before.

Suspended from all team activities until the conclusion of the trial. At the very least he's guilty of hanging out with a total idiot.

Which with the legal process may allow him to play through half his senior year before anything comes down. I'm all for innocent until proven guilty. But I'm not okay with a guy wearing a Cyclone Jersey because the court of law can take years to finish a case driven by defendant delays.
If Fred wants to suspend him or whatever that's fine, but people on here are saying he should be gone because he raped a girl, we do not know that yet. If he wants to remove him because of the poor image it reflects is one thing, but at this point to say Fred should remove him because he's a rapist is not true, yet.

There's some irony in the fact that after all the talk of how risky it was to bring in all the transfers and a guy like RW who had a record, that the one that ends up getting in trouble is hometown walkon Bubu.

Man.......I was shocked when I read this. He was just about the last guy I would have picked off this team to get into trouble. Discouraging, but I'm glad Fred is handling it this way, this quickly.

I'm literally still shaking my head. I'm just so disappointed in this whole thing; there are absolutely no winners in a situation like this.

When you turn yourself in, you're pretty much saying that you are guilty.

Yeah... no. It means you're cooperating (which doesn't say anything about guilt, really). If they run that's when it looks like they're guilty, because they know they're ****ed.

Can anyone explain the comment that "the other guy was not shocking" ? I googled his name and looks like he played FB at Ames HS. So probably that explains why Bubu was hanging out with him ?

Bit difficult to find irony in anything related to sexual assault charges. Glad to see Fred get ahead of this and suspend the kid until more information is brought forward
